LOH Community Contest #295 ~ Trends got nothing on me

The other day I was going through a fashion blog called Pinterest, I saw beautiful fashionably styles I loved and so I saved them with the hope to recreate them because of course it is my kind of stuff, but unfortunately, I couldn't, like I changed my mind because few days after saving it in my draft as a style to recreate I started seeing them around, people started wearing it, fashion houses started using it for content, and that was how i changed my mind and decided to go for something else.

The funny thing is that I now have friends around me who are into fashion, so it even makes it more fun when I see something and discuss it with them and then we deliberate on the stuff and how to recreate it and all the shenanigans that come with styling.

In the last one year, I have bought wedding materials for an event but at the end of the day, I couldn't wear them to the event, because I didn't sew them, not that I do not want to sew them but that the styles I choose for myself, unfortunately the event material I bought wasn't enough to get it perfectly done, so instead of sewing what at the end of the day I may likely not wear, I choose to keep the material, till when I have something better and comfortable to make that the material will be enough to sew it with.

I ended up wearing a pair of trousers and a white shirt to most of those events because I wanted to be comfortable, simple, and myself. I do not have to look like a girl, I do not want to dress a certain "girlie way" I wear what makes me feel like myself, even though it is simple, it can not be shabby, sophisticated, poised, and elegant because that's who I am, that's my personality. Even if I get my inspiration from trends, I will also tweak it to fit my personality, to fit what I can be comfortable in.

I can love trends but I can not follow trends because I am built differently when it comes to fashion, my taste for fashion, or my kind of fashion style isn't the way the fashion trends work. I love to look simple, stylish, but most importantly comfortable in what I wear. I love to look like what I imagined in my head not what trends think I should look like, I am always of the opinion of wearing something I can run in just in case of any situation, I love to look like me, I love to wear what I like not what trends think is in vogue.

For example, I do not love all these lacy dresses, so I have always said that if I were to decide to settle down someday, I won't be wearing lace on my traditional marriage day, and people do not seem to understand why, because everyone wears lace on their traditional marriage day but not me.

I have turned down the bridesmaid duty because I do not like to wear lace and I do not like to wear long gowns and when I told the bride, they were not comfortable with it, so I told them, and even though they tried to change my mind, I still didn't budge about my choice. I believe in going for what I can wear, whenever I want to and however I choose to, and since I love being simple and minimalist too, it has a way of making me take decisions that work for me, and my body type not trends.

I do not always love to go by the books written by trends, I do not love to play by the books written by trends, I love to play by my own book, I love to go by my own book, it is either I love it or not, I do not manage, for the grams or to look a certain way especially if it involves fashion, Nah, it is what I want or nothing.
