My First Withdrawal on Hive
When I found out about Hive from a friend at first I was skeptical but since I needed something to hold on to especially as a student, I had no option but to decide to give it a try and see where it would lead me. Last year, in October 2025 precisely, I joined this blockchain but I couldn't bring myself to write anything because I was a bit confused and didn't know where to begin but after much push from my friend, I decided to do something
I started my year with some New Year's resolutions and I guess beginning my #Hive journey properly was a part of the plan, as I did my first post on January 5 2026, and the rest they say is history. Although I wasn't consistent because I was finding it hard to balance my busy life as a final-year student and my online life, so most days, weeks, or months I wasn't here, and I am not going to lie, the upvotes were discouraging as a first-time user.
On several occasions, months after I became consistent I realized that my months of hard work were not beautiful on paper they were more beautiful just sitting pretty in my account, no matter the increase in my wallet, it was nothing but a little amount that couldn't even take care of my daily needs.
Many days it felt disappointing, especially when I had urgent needs but after finding out the amount is not even enough to sort my needs, I have no option but to look for help as well, but I kept hoping that maybe one day it could amount to something but I guess it is nothing but a dream which is valid as a user in this space. Yesterday, I had an urgent need to meet concerning my school, so after realizing that I had nowhere to source finances from, I had no option but to reach into my wallet for an exchange, I won't lie, I was pained but at that moment, there was nothing I could do but make a withdrawal from my wallet to meet my needs.
So, I asked a friend to check for the rice and he sadly told me the price of what I was selling was nothing less than five thousand naira (#5,000), I was pained but since it was going to meet my needs, I had no option but to make the transaction. So, I exchanged my 80 Hive for a token of five thousand naira, (#5,000). It was indeed a painful exchange for me as it felt like my months of hard work did not commensurate with the amount in my hands.
As long as the money was able to sort out the needs that it was meant for, I was happy about it. I got myself the needed textbook that I will read to prepare myself for my upcoming test and examination and I was also able to pay my electricity bills which were more than a week overdue. In all, I am glad that for the first time, I have been able to withdraw my hive to meet my needs and that's a beautiful thing.
I understand how difficult it is for you to share content and grow on Hive, especially if your initial view of the ecosystem is primarily monetary. As a content creator myself, I encourage you to remain consistent and see what you can or think you need to improve. I sought help, received advice, and decided to change and improve some aspects of my writing style, how I create posts, my layout, image editing, how I use all the tags, and which tags to use, in which community to publish, interact, comment on other posts, participate in contests, etc. With time, consistency, and a more open and broad vision of what you want to do in Hive, you will do better.
