THE ART OF UPCYCLING IN FASHION AND SUSTAINABLE STYLE

Goodevening, fashion lovers, how are you all doing? I hope you're having a great start to the year and I wish you all a prosperous new year too. It's been a while since I posted in the #needleworkmonday community. I've been working on upcycling some old clothes and I have to say, it really brought out my creativity. I didn't take pictures of the process, but I wanted to share my thoughts on how upcycling has helped me tap in my creative side.
I was confused and didn't know what to write because I didn't take any pictures of the process. However, an idea popped into my head to write about upcycling clothes and post some pictures. This is my own understanding of Upcycling, which refers to the unique and creative part of the process of transforming old or unwanted material you don't want anymore into a new, higher- value quality and aesthetic accessories you love.

Before, I didn't have time for Upcycling or even think about it. But now, I find myself doing it picking up old clothes that I didn't feel like wearing again. Especially when I unbox all my clothes for church, I get confused and frustrated that there's nothing to wear. That's when I had the idea of transforming old clothes into a new masterpiece, which I'm really loving. It intends to bring out creativity in fashion designs.

One thing about upcycling in fashion is that it adds sustainability by reducing waste and promoting creativity, bringing out new pieces from materials that would have otherwise been discarded. It made me understand and know that it encourages innovation and creativity in fashion by working with unconventional materials in unexpected ways.

Upcycling promotes fashion innovation by resulting in unique new pieces through creative reuse. Isn't it amazing to transform old clothes into new masterpieces? Sometimes, it costs us less than buying new clothes from the market. I'm not saying that when you have the means, you shouldn't treat yourself to a new dress from the market. But as a designer, I love to try new things and exploring new ideas in the fashion world. it's such a great feeling to be creative.

When you come out and let people see the dress you made and they're like 'wow, who made this?' and you're like 'I made it, I used my old gown to transform into these 2 pieces' I bet you'll have that look on your face, screaming satisfied and proud of yourself when they compliment about you being creative.

I've come to know about upcycling, and I didn't know about it before. it's truly amazing and I get this feeling everyday by bringing out my old clothes to transform into new pieces. I've noticed that it makes me spend less on buying clothes when I have a machine and some old clothes that I don't feel like wearing anymore. Sometimes, we buy clothes and don't even wear them, they just get left in the bag and forgetten. Then, when we're feeling like we don't have nothing to wear, we bring them out but still lose interest in the design. That's when we get the inspiration to transform them into unique pieces in the way we want it.

The process of upcycling is not only about creating or transforming something new but also
about reimagining the past while looking towards a more sustainable future. That's why I believe that for us designers, it's an opportunity to showcase our creativity and skills. It's a way to express our personal style and add value through fashion. upcycling shows that fashion can be stylish and by embracing it, we can tell our own story of what fashion means to us, creating a compassionate and creative approach to style.

The powerful aspect of fashion is that it's not just about picking up scissors to cut a style, it's also about hacks and recreating old clothes you no longer feel like wearing.
