I am so grateful to @clixmoney for bringing up this great contest collaboration with the hive Naija community, I am a proud Nigerian and will love to participate in this contest following the topic.πŸ‘‡

To participate in the contest, all you have to do is to write about your country a bit. You can talk about what you love about it. Why do you still live there, and you don't plan to move, and even if you are moving or already left it, explain why. Talk about people in your country and their traditions. Share some pictures you took of the best places you ever visited in your country.

The image below is a beautiful view of my state Akwa-Ibom state Nigeria.πŸ‘‡

I am OBADIAH effiong edem (aka) @obrisgold1 a native of Akwa-Ibom state the only state in Nigeria named after God, the state that is known as the land of promise the oil-rich state that contributes immensely to the steady flow of petrol in the nation and beyond. Away from my state.

MY COUNTRY NIGERIA

Nigeria Is my birth country and also my motherland, it is a black nation located on the West Coast of Africa she had boundaries with countries like Cameron, niger republic, Ghana, etc. She occupies a landmass of 923,768 square kilometers and 356,376 square miles. The capital of Nigeria is Abuja in the capital that I where my president and all other stakeholders in the country live. Just like Ney York is the light of America so is Lagos. Lagos is the most civilized and populated state in Nigeria with about 3million people.

I love this my dear Country with my whole heart no lies at all, yes I know times are hard but that truly can't stop me from loving this country 😰. I wake up every day to news of how friends of mine left the country in search of greener pastures but that can't be me πŸ€”. I most times just venture into the thought of traveling out of Nigeria and the thought of missing the funny hot and cold weather during winter just make me cancel every thought of traveling out.

Not to talk of the wonderful delicacies being manufactured by our great cooks how will I cope overseas without my afang soup and jello rice this and many more thoughts kept strolling In my head and made me never go Under pressure from friends or from my inner man of leaving Nigeria.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT NIGERIA

I love the weather here in Nigeria, very calm not too harsh suitable for all skin types from north down south. I love the unity in all the ethnic groups, Nigeria though filled with different dialect we still strive together in unity than most countries that speak and hear the same language. I also love all our local and English food.

WHY I STILL LIVE IN NIGERIA

Like I said most of my friends are out or planning to travel out of Nigeria but I won't, why because this is my motherland, going to look for greener pastures. That I not for me I will live in my country and achieve more than what they achieve outside of Nigeria. I am in Naija because my family members are all here, I still stay in Naija because I want to prove to my friends that have given up on her that better days are coming 😁.

And no I don't have any plans of traveling out of Nigeria any time soon, I see no damn reason for that, the only place I can travel to is within the country and even if I mistakenly travel out of Nigeria I would not stay long up to one weekπŸ˜‚ I will be homesick.

NIGERIA PEOPLE AND THEIR DIFFERENT CULTURES

like I said we have so many cultures and traditions in Nigeria.

Image from the new yam festival πŸ‘‡

In some cultures they celebrate the new yam harvest, it is called the new yam festival mostly celebrated in the south and partly western Nigeria. On the day the king of the community will be the first to tates the new yam, he will bless the yam and offer some to the gods of the land thanking them for a successful harvest and praying for a good harvest in the next harvest season.

The image is from the Argungu fishing festival.πŸ‘‡

In some parts of Nigeria, they do celebrate the Argungu fishing festival, on that day all the fishermen and even nonfishermen will go out to a particular river for fishing competition, a reward will be given to whoever had the biggest catch.

They also have some wired practices in the southern part of Nigeria where they have a diety that is responsible for punishing married women that commit adultery leaving the man. And such is been practiced till date. It Is called "Ekpo Nka Owo"

Of cause, the northerners are not left out as they also have so many festivals the Ramadan and Eid-Al-Fitr. They also have their fast at some of these festivals. I do enjoy it because my Muslim neighbor will treat me to a delicious meal with lots of meat😁.

The image below is a magical display of a tribe in Nigeria πŸ‘‡

In the eastern part of Nigeria they normally have a cultural display of magic here you will witness live magic 😳 gun being shot at someone without it affecting that person and sharp objects like a knife will be used to play but it won't hurt anyone, on that day you will be left surprised and shock.

If I go on and on the reader will just get tired πŸ˜‚ alone the way so I plead to stop here, Nigeria has lots of cultures. The bad and the good ones.

Nigeria is a fun place with lots of exciting places to visit like I saw in @jayblak post here

I hope I was able to attempt all the questions being asked? Thanks for this opportunity giving to bring Nigeria to the world in diverse cultures.
