Original Watercolour process : Winter Sunset on the Rideau River, Canada.

WOOPS....

For some reason when I post this in the New #OffchainArt Community blog it does not appear on the olde Steemit so I tried to reblog over there but it showed up here again ?

It has been a while since I painted with watercolours so I thought I would document the process here in #Onchainart

I’m not sure if that is allowed or how to post something within a Community and have it also appear on my Steemit and Steempeak blogs ? Any help is much appreciated.

This is the finished painting. The hardest part of watercolour painting or any kind of painting is knowing when you are finished.

I may not be finished yet. I will need to look at it from many distances to tweak it over the coming days, weeks, years.

This is why I find it so hard to make a “painting process” post here on the Steem blockchain. I am never finished.

Placing the Digital image here to start ...

Step 1. This is how I start... a very quick Pencil sketch on heavy water colour paper ...

Step 2: I wet the entire paper ... for a wet on wet technique for the sky... lightest colours first.

Step 3: I move from yellows, to oranges to blue in the sky ... and shadows on the snow.

Step 4 : I move to the darker clouds along the horizon line ...

Step 5: I start to block out the Spruce Trees in the foreground. I think I started these too soon... the water was too wet and the trees start to blur into the clouds.... WOOPS. Patience is required for watercolours.

I wait for the paper to completely dry then I go back and add the darkest darks of the trees. This is better...

Step 6: I let the spruce trees dry some more then add the deciduous maples in the foreground....

And here we are. I will let dry then go back and add a few highlights with a special trick I use. I don’t use any white paint.
