A combination of both homeschooling and traditional school.

I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. One thing that seems easy when you observe from afar is parenting; you feel some parents are doing it wrong or are making the wrong choices, whereas they are actually doing the best they can. Parenting is one very difficult thing; I tell you that it is not easy from the day you become a parent until you draw your last breath. From the day you become a parent, you are expected to no longer be reckless with your life because you now have someone looking up to you for protection, for provision, and for your guidance, and the moment you are out of the picture as a parent, nobody might step up to do all of that for them, or those who will step up might not be able to do it like you would have.

From the day you become a parent, your life is no longer Completely yours because your style of taking and making decisions changes; as a parent, you must make decisions that favor both you and your baby and not only you. As a parent, sometimes you even make decisions that favor your baby alone, but you don't dare to make decisions that don't favor your baby at all. I feel like once you are a parent, your life starts to revolve around your child, and you are reminded that your every decision either affects your child negatively or positively and you should think every decision over and over again before you pull through.

Parenting is also not a journey you wake up one morning and decide to embark on; it is a journey you prepare for. You prepare for the journey mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, and in all aspects that you need to prepare for. If you step into the parenting space without proper preparation, trust me, you will find it even more difficult than it ought to be. I will always tell people, "Don't judge or criticize a parent until you are one. Some people think their parents made the wrong decisions for them, but only judge them when you are one and your child also agrees with you that you made the right decisions for them."

Choosing between homeschooling my child or having having them attend a traditional school can be really difficult because each one has a benefit that comes with it; homeschooling takes away socialization and interaction with peers and can lead to them wanting to be left alone all the time because they are used to it. In our world today the help many people got are from the classmates they were socializing with back then, the classmates they were close to, so homeschooling will take that away from them, thereby limiting the help they can get or could have gotten if they attended a traditional school where they get to meet other kids from different backgrounds.

Also attending a traditional school where the government chooses what is to be taught and what is not to be taught, I learned many schools don't teach history anymore based on the government's instructions, and those that still teach it have been given directions on what to add to the scheme of work and what should not be on the scheme of work, thereby limiting what they get to learn or know about things they are actually supposed to know fully.

So for me, a combination of both balances the equation. They attend a traditional school so they get the opportunity to socialize with classmates and those above them, and then when back home, we can cover those parts that the government must have scrapped, causing them to know all they need to know and better equipping them for the future ahead of them.
