Coming from you does not spoil them; rather, it educates them.

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Sex education is a very important aspect of every child's life, especially adolescents', when they are at that stage or level between adulthood and childhood, transitioning from being kids into becoming adults, and then their system begins to crave and have urges that, if not careful enough and not properly guided, they might give into, and giving into those urges often results in bad things for them because they do not have the knowledge and the experience to handle themselves properly.

Many parents shy away from talks about sex and anything that concerns it with their children, letting the children pivot and find their way around that one on their own, and that has often brought back bad results. Many parents have been forced to cater to a grandchild they did not prepare for or plan for just because a daughter with no knowledge at all about sex was involved in it and no proper guidance or information about sex and how to stay safe resulted in a journey there is no coming back from.

Many parents make the mistake of thinking talking about sex with their kids would spoil them or make them want to try it out of curiosity, but the truth is that talking about sex with your kids does not spoil them; rather, it educates them and prepares them for what is coming. You not talking about sex with them actually endangers them and makes them prone to the dangers of not knowing how to protect themselves and when to know when they are being abused and whatnot. Many children are being abused without even knowing it, but with the proper education based on level and age, they would be able to point out abuse.

Many parents leave that job to the teachers in school, but then teachers in school will not be able to pass the message like you would. Teachers will try to coat their words and try not to use the wrong words in order to keep their jobs and not to get on the bad side of parents, but you as the parent can pass this message anyway you want and not have a problem with that. As a parent, it is your duty to have this conversation with your children from the moment they can understand you and what you are saying because there are abusers that don't even wait for them to get to a certain age before they strike.

For me, I think sex education or conversation on sex education is one that should be held between parents and their kids from the moment the kids can understand them and can move on their own and be in places where their parents are not always with them. That way, they are taught that there is a way a fellow child, an age mate, or an adult in the neighborhood can touch them and it should be reported and handled immediately; that way, they carry the knowledge of what they should be involved in and what they should not be involved in, things they are free to do at a certain age and things that they are not free to do.

Sex education brings to their knowledge the consequences of every action and the benefits of every action as pertaining to their sexual life; once armed with that knowledge, their chances of being safe from both abusers and dangers associated with sex are increased by a certain percentage.
