Don't completely rely on these human heroes, especially in a country like mine.

Hello, everyone.

I have seen in other countries how first responders and firefighters are commended for their good works and heroic acts and deeds. In these countries, even personnel are dedicated to their job and are not reluctant whenever they are called upon, nor are they nonchalant about their jobs, as they know a little mistake can be costly and put lives at risk with every little mistake they make. Every life is valued in countries like this, and these first responders are always ready to serve the people and country as they put lives first. It takes a lot of courage to put your life on the line while trying to save that of another person's life.

These men and women are like sacrificial lambs, where people fear to thread that is exactly where they enter. They are the only thing standing between the entire country going into chaos and maintaining peace while citizens go about their daily activities. It is really not an easy job, a job where you risk losing your life, a job that can leave you in a critical condition, but they just have to do it anyways as it is something they have signed up for.

The first responders in my country are poorly equipped; it is painful to see how the government allocates little or nothing for their improvement. This affects their service to the people; this puts the lives they have sworn to protect at risk, and there is nothing they can do about it. It is really disheartening to see that our first responders cannot even show up on time; they always come after the disaster has caused a lot of damage, or they don't show up at all. Many of us never felt the effect of these first responders showing up late or never showing up at all. I was one of those who was okay with the first responders/firefighters showing up late or never showing up until I witnessed the after effects of them showing up late.

One bad experience with my country's firefighters.

In 2021, my school hostel caught fire by accident. A student who was cooking was careless and did not know when the fire caught a bed in the room, and from there, it escalated. Students tried to put out the fire, but the fire kept escalating like it was fuel students were adding to it. Someone suggested we call the fire service of the state, and the response we got was a funny one. The person who picked up the call said they don't have water; we have to wait for them to fill up their truck; we had to continue trying to put it out on our own, but nothing worked.

These firefighters later showed up after the room had burned to the ground. Lots of properties were lost, and students lost their documents that day. The stress of going to get your documents all over again is something I don't wish for even an enemy in my country. The stress is top notch, and the process is very long, and all these would have been avoided if help had arrived at the right time. Instead of relying on firefighters in my country, I just do everything possible to avoid fire outbreaks, though sometimes they are inevitable.

Funny enough my school has just one fire truck and I wonder how will they tackle multiple fire if it breaks around the school. They need to do better.
