Hauntings of Dad’s Past Deeds

“Been here before,” Kip frowned, “but when?”

Kip’s new adventure had started. Kip and Shemzy were on their regular ghost filming expedition and faced a sprawling set of uber-luxurious row houses overlooking a valley gulping down the sunlight to satiate its insatiable darkness. The story goes that the homes never sold as the first few buyers experienced an unearthly torment at the hands of the unseen. Unlike other haunted locations, the Arlington Penthouse Villas were certified haunted by the local authorities, and the entry was prohibited.

“I don’t know how you could have come here before, but I am getting all the creeps,” Shemzy zoomed his camera to the closest house. Shemzy was the brave one while Kip was practical and that made them a hit combination in the world of ghost-hunters.

“Nah, bro,” Kip was too focused on the houses to notice his camera pointed elsewhere, “I know that tree from my childhood but none of the things around that.”

“We grew up together,” Shemzy almost protested, “what are you talking about?”

“Dude, I wasn’t born there,” Kip hardly turned. Kip’s family had shifted to Shemzy’s neighbourhood when he was nine years old and stayed there ever since. However, Kip was unable to piece together the things that were running in his head since they arrived at this haunted location which he knew nothing about.

“Let’s take a look at that house,” Shemzy pointed to a house which appeared amazingly beautiful from the outside and being abandoned could comfortably house the numerous homeless.

“Kip,” a voice called out and was the first EVP or ghost whisper that they had encountered.

“Damn, that was clear as day,” Shemzy knew that spirits could communicate in the living world and many times chose their host. Both of them walked towards the house while from his camera, Shemzy witnessed shadows moving, but he wondered if it was the setting sun playing tricks.

“Your father betrayed us,” a deep devilish voice roared, “you shouldn’t have come here,” as the voice bellowed through the house, it more than tested Shemzy’s bravery who continued recording.

“Dude, we just heard a whole f**king statement,” Kip whispered, “EVP?”

“I wonder if there’s a squatter who is trying to scare us,” Shemzy whispered while filming.

“No.”

“Another EVP,” Kip frowned, “it is responding to us.” Kip slipped into a trance and saw himself playing around the tree with kids.

“Now, you remember?”

Kip fell. “This is where I was born.”

“Your father sold our ancestral land to thugs who mercilessly killed us when we refused to leave,” the angst reverberated across, “he cheated us.” Kip was worried that they could very well be filming their final encounter.

“I am the one responsible,” Kip said, “let him go.”

“You will tell the world what happened here, Kip,” the voice said, “make it right.”

“What are you up to?” Shemzy noticed Kip sifting through loads of land records in his late father’s closet.

“Making things right, finally.”

Sadly, isn't it? If only we could do more for the living, half the worlds problems would be gone.. 😊
