So let's see how Lord Shiva is worshiped in India and what are its features.

  • Lord Shiva is worshiped with full pomp on every Monday in the month of Sawan. To please Mahadev, mainly women fast on 16 Mondays and in today's time men also keep this fast.
  • From this month, Kanwar Yatra is also organized by the devotees.
  • All the devotees who are there in the month of Sawan, go to different places and worship Lord Shiva and take a dip in the Ganga.
  • The different different place where Indian devotees mainly go is Haridwar, Rishikesh, Neelkanth etc. With the hymns of Bhole Baba, they bring water from there to Kavad, the weather is also very good in the month of Sawan, neither summer nor winter
  • People who live in urban areas must miss this thing very much Because whenever we go to the side of our villages, it is seen that the unmarried girls in the villages in the month of Sawan swinging on the trees and swinging with her friends enjoying this month.
  • The month of Sawan is more dear to God, it is told in the scriptures that those who believe in the month of Sawan Worships Lord Mahadev with a true heart, Lord Bholenath definitely blesses him at the desired moment.

Let us also have a look on why Lord Shiva is worshiped in the month of Sawan.

  • Mother Sati had taken a vow to get Lord Mahadev in every birth, she left her body with yoga power at the house of her father King Daksha. After this she was born as Parvati in the house of Himalaya Raj
  • Mother Parvati did severe penance in the month of Sawan to get Lord Shiva as her husband and later married him after successful penance, this is the reason why the month of Sawan is so dear to Shiva.
  • According to Hindu texts, it is also said that in the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva drank the poison that came out of the churning of the ocean.
  • It has been mentioned in the Shiva Purana text that Lord Shiva himself is water, so it is considered fruitful to anoint him early in the month of Sawan.
  • There is also some mention in our Indian text that Lord Vishnu goes into yoga nidra in the month of Sawan After that Lord Shiva assumes the responsibility of running the creation smoothly.
