It was just like yesterday that I held you in my arms
Your tiny frame and figure as I handled you tenderly
I watched you in need of attention and we gave it
You were peaceful, calm and absolutely a joy to behold

It was just like yesterday when you started crawling
It was with joy and excitement in my heart to watch you crawl without a shawl
I watched you get tired while at it while falling a few times too
I watched your excitement as you tried your hands on new things

It was just like yesterday when you had your first walk
I didn't see it coming but I am glad I was there to witness it
You moved for 5 seconds and about to fall, you got helped by the chair
Rather than cry, you laughed because it's new territory for you

It was just like yesterday when I heard you call my name; daddy
It was like music to my ears and your mummy even got jealous
Your voice is so soothing, I could listen to you all-day
My chatterbox...your chattering is a sweet melody which my heart receives well

It was just like yesterday when you started school
Just like yesterday when you started running around the house
I'm glad I witnessed so many of your firsts
And I know I would see many more things to come because you are exciting

It's almost your second birthday and I couldn't be more thrilled
I've watched you grow and you are a joy to behold
To all the excitement you bring and the joy that accompanied it
I would say you are beautiful, in and out and I feel blessed to be your daddy

Happy Birthday in advance, my love. I wouldn't trade you for anyone.
