Can I Get My Money Back?

DSC01376.JPG

So a few number of years ago, I made a decision. After living in the frigid haunts of Michigan, I decided I wanted to move to somewhere warmer. I wanted to head south.

Random dog walking down the snowy road...

However, I didnt really want hot. Like Florida hot is nearly as bad as Michigan cold, just in a backwards mirror image kind if way. I did not want to be a poisoner to the air conditioning. Plus they have too many creepy crawlies and gators too. Me no like gators!

So I looked at a map of the US and started thinking about mid way between Michigan and Florida. Ah there is Virginia. It is known to have pretty scenic views. As I zeroed in on the state, I saw they had a nice large lake in the south west side. Hmmm nice large and deep lake nestled in the mountains, well there are worst places to live I thought. Not to mention a thriving state economy with Amazon, Boeing and Raytheon opening HQ's there.

The Beautiful Sunday and Sublime Sunday tags are some of my faves! I want to thank @ace108 for running the beautiful Sunday tag every week and keeping such detailed stats and supporting the accounts. Also, a shout out to @c0ff33a for the sublime Sunday tag where your random Sunday posts are always welcome!

So as I sit here in Virginia surrounded by snow in the middle of March. I am wondering who I can speak to about getting a refund?!? Can it be a beautiful Sunday, I think so. The snow is pretty as long as it melts soon. Making it a sublime Sunday is mentally up to us, I suppose.

Like it is as cold as Michigan today. Where are the blooms? Where is the early planting opportunities? I want my money back! And my time back as well!

Well I am only half joking a bit facetiously... However this weekend there are a lot of big money players who are thinking they want their money back. See Silicon Valley Bank that was a top 20 US bank failed Friday. You know a good old run on the bank, much like in the Christmas favorite, Its a Wonderful Life.

Depositors are federally insured up to $250,000. However they appears to be many big money guys that are in for far more than that. At first blush the Feds were saying they would not backstop those over-exposed. However as is often the case, the whales seem to be making such a fuss, now the Feds are floating the notion of backstopping all deposits. Guess what, sound like you and me might be picking up the tab (again) for the moral hazard sins of the Big Boys. Some things never change, am I right?

When my wife moved to Washington DC in 1996 she was welcomed by the Blizzard of 96 and had to snowshoe into her office in Georgetown.

The blizzard of '96 dropped feet of snow that immobilized transportation arteries in the region. Reagan National measured 17.2 inches with snow drifts up to five feet.

I lived in Ft. Walton Beach for 16 months. Nice, but, pretty small without too many amenities.

I have never been there yet….. only Orlando, Daytona, St Augustine, Clearwater, St Pete’s … I still need to make it up to Destin and Pensacola.

Clearwater:

I am so over Orlando especially the traffic, but Daytona, St. Pete and Clearwater are still pretty nice last time I looked.

You should really check out Sanibel Island and Santa Rosa Beach (that is between Destin and Fort Walton Beach.

There are so many nice beaches that I have seen down there and yet, I never really wanted to move there.

FTI - believe it or not, Pensacola is an 8 hour drive from Orlando. Maybe less if you have no kids and you are flying... AKA speeding.

Yeah ... The panhandle is a Trip on its own... One we never made yet. Actually never even made it to Orlando with the kids. They had no interest in Disney land ... Lucky for us.

Ha! That is a worthy reason to be in Canada! I am jealous!! Pull out that toboggan and take a ride down the hill for me. Or snowshoe... or something fun and frosty.

It makes the fireplace all the better after I get wet and cold.

Yes! For a while almost anything is good. I lived near Myrtle Beach and you couldn't pay me to go there again to live. Now, of course, that was a few years ago, and it was only for less than two years. Two years I'll never get back.

Uh oh ! You haven't even gotten all the way moved and you are bringing the snow down with you !

We got a hint that didn't stick, nor stick around. I had not heard any of it predicted. You got way more than we did. We actually haven't had a decent snow this whole winter, but it's not too late I'm thinking.

I don't know but that looks like a pretty good view. Sans snow of course.
I saw the news about SVB. What a screw up? Bad investment choices and now they want a bailout?
They have a UK subsidiary which employs 350 people. I don't know if employ is the right word though? God knows what they do?
Apparently there is a long queue of punters who want to buy it. Lock stock and debt. 😂👍🏼

I'm not getting notified of new posts from people who I follow? I had to come here manually?

I blame the current administration and especially the Federal Reserve. They make the same mistakes over and over. They want to beat back inflation, but try to do so with blinders on. They seem hellbent on continuing to raise the rates forgetting that ever quarter point literally means more pain for very real people trying to meet their everyday bills.

I know Peakd was not working well for me. Perhaps they are working on something...

I blame the current administration

Today Biden blamed Trump for repealing laws that were put in place after the 2007,8,9 financial fiasco.

Biden said and I'm paraphrasing here.

'depositors will be protected and investors will lose their money. They took a risk and lost....that's capitalism'
😂👍🏼
Also. There will be no bailout of any banks.

Biden just assured his second term lol

Perhaps, but he really pissed off the climate change greenies by approving the huge drilling project Willow today. They feel totally betrayed and are mad as Hell! All of this is going to make for a long exhausting slough till next election in November 2024!

And last time the Fed told congress to cut spending or it’s all did nothing. The late seventies early eighties. Rates did need to get real again, but this indeed seems to a crash done on purpose to be honest. Problem solution kinda thing. They create the thing that creates the problem then they come to rescue with “solution”

I still think I prefer the old view best.

I still do not understand why you left it if you like it so much. I let my Michigan property go after all those years of owning it and I have never once regretted it. I think that you drug the moving/packing on for so long, you took some of the joy out of it. You gave yourself all that time to hem and haw, wonder, change your mind, then change it again...

I actually have all sorts of blooming here. Remember that you have a brand new neighborhood, so there won't be anything that has been planted there. PS. I got flurries on Sunday, but, it was for about 5 minutes. Disappointing! Now, we are back to the scheduled Spring.

I hope life gets better for you. You should just go ahead and finish off the downstairs and put it up for sale this spring. The best to you always.

Sweet! You always get the sun and fun. Nope I am being beaten by high winds, snow and freezing cold. I need to get back up north to warm up! Pure misery.

Not always, but when I do, I do enjoy it.
