I Do Not Want Anything For Christmas

Its been entirely too long since I have posted any Monochrome Monday shots. Seeing as I started the tag about 100 years ago back on Steemit, I feel doubly guilty about it too lol. Well it only seems right to have a holiday version at this point!

I don't really want anything for Christmas. I mean I do want a new Kubota tractor. Actually I need a new tractor, and that's the point. A new tractor is a need and not a want per se. To me a Christmas present, even to oneself, should be a fun and happy want instead of a plain old need dressed up as a want.
I am somewhat scared that perhaps I am losing my zest for life. I mean doesn't everyone want something? Is it even normal to not want anything? No, I am not joking and actually I am totally serious. Of course I want world peace, easing poverty, and living a long pleasurable life, but those are just ephemeral things that most everyone would also want. However, I am talking about specific, fun products. Of course I would never pass up a free new truck or nice boat, but those are not within striking distance for me, so I am not really going to count such potential gifts.

I have been looking at a Japanese whetstone to sharpen knives on. I have been debating it for years. I even went so far to buy a really cheap ten dollar stone. It will sharpen, but one has to really work at it. Certainly it is not the pleasurable experience one gets from this stone from Naniwa.

I just did not want to spend the money! But I just might, just to join in on the holiday fun. YOLO and all that stuff LOL. I mean they say no one likes a party pooper right?

About this "issue", I thing that for some days my "mood" and mindset it is about the same. Mostly forced by my health condition. But I can not throw down the towel, neither you can! Let's go and celebrate life's marvelous things!

Yeah I hear ya about that list. I was just thinking about all the people that I used to have over for a Christmas dinner; and how many have passed on now.
Everyone's wishes to fulfil their dream.
Always sent Christmas Cards then our postal service became retarded, still received some up into June one year. Asked folk to please not spend the money sending to South Africa like most other things here, it no longer works!
Southern Comfort looks different, something to enjoy. Hang onto the manual car key and window winders they are safer in the long run, stay in control 🙃

Wow Christmas card delivery in June is giving our postal service a run for the money! I thought that would only be a USA problem lol.
Not sure if they do eggnog in South Africa, but it is a nice holiday treat I look forward to each year and Southern Comfort makes a tasty variety!

Postal service went down the shoot here a number of years ago. Eggnog not something we have, might enjoy a Dom Pedro or two, perhaps you will try this for New Year. Enjoy!
I have some of that eggnog in my frig right now.
These days my Mom depends on us to decide what we want her to give us and most likely, pick it up and bring it to her to wrap ! ha ha.... takes the surprise right out of it ! ...but such is life as you get older.... and older. Although I don't keep a running list in my head, I can always come up with a little something.
I now remind me of something my brother said one time when asked for some ideas to buy him for Christmas, being his funny self he said he didn't have any ideas, because if he saw it and I could afford it, he had already bought it for himself ! ha ha These days my wants are not usually big, so I think nothing of just buying something for myself at any old time. Not something I do too frequently, but still, there it is !

I ordered it simply coz we needed it. Who can stand dull knives lol!
ha ha ... dull knives will never do ! I have a honing rod that came with one of my knife sets. I use that occasionally. I admit I barely know what I am doing, but it has helped, so I must be using it half right..... or something.
