I Need a Rope Because I Am Drowning In Inflation

This may seem like an unusual item for a Market Friday post. However, when it is mainly all you have bought of interest, we must play the cards we have been dealt lol.

Having some utility rope on hand is never a bad idea. Of course there are a million different uses for such rope, but for me I plan to tie knots in it every so many feet. Yep a whole lot of knots.

My lot I am working on in Virginia is rather steep as it descends towards the water, so this should help us get back up it. Obviously I am not talking about repelling lol. I am certain this rope would not be safe to trust as lifting me up. However I think it will do to give a tug. It must be safer then using the limbs I usually use to pull on lol.

This gives an idea as to the thickness. Of course the ends come nicely melted to keep the braids from fraying and unraveling.

You get 100 feet for 23 bucks or so. Not too shabby and made in the USA as well https://amzn.to/3QmeBns

As always a special thanks to @dswigle for making Market Friday so much fun every week!

Now some the prices I have been seeing while out and about have just been criminal! Wasn't too long ago that a two liter was a buck. Then they raised it to $1.50. Then it jumped to an even two bucks! Well that was really high, but now even Walmart had Dew for $2.25! Is that not just criminally high!?!

20220808_170747.jpg

I get my beef from a farmer buddy of mine. I pay $2.22 a pound plus butchering. So I don't watch prices on beef as close as I should, but I couldn't help noticing this is 13 bucks a pound! OMG!!!

20220808_170557.jpg

Wow 35 bucks for some catfish seems a bit much to me. Guess I need to bust out my rod and reel at that point!

20220812_124649.jpg

Ok now forever and a day Walmart sold this for a buck a loaf. Always was a steal in my book. Now they have raised it 47%. Yikes that is a big increase but still about half of what Kroger charges!

20220806_223603.jpg
Whoa 4 bucks a dozen for brown eggs! They aint even the free range ones!

20220806_223615.jpg
However, nearly 4 bucks for plain white that was always way less than a buck, now that seems nuts!!!

I like the idea of the rope, for your own safety and anyone else working on your lot. I swear I thought I heard you were getting a belaying rope! Kidding. I haven't been anywhere near a climb in years. I am okay with that.

Is the lot in Virginia as steep as your lot there in Michigan? I guess that is good as it means no flooding. I just have these visions of having a cottage on a lake and I can walk there without being forced to run down the hill.

The prices have really gotten out of hand and don't look like they will be changing anytime soon. Beef has been on the way down for about two weeks and a few other things too. I don't buy that much meat, we get most of our fish free from my cousin's charter boats and we have tomatoes galore and a few other veggies in the garden. My neighbor at the shore takes care of the garden or keeps an eye on it. It has a timer for water and doesn't need to be weeded, but, needs to be picked. :) So they have free reign to pick what they can use. Ditto with the fruit trees and the fig trees. I hope you have just enough land to put a few tomatoes and squash or pumpkin in. It's fun and it's fun to have free food. I have jarred 23 jars of tomatoes sauces for the winter already. Almost like Ragu, except not.

I hope you are having a great end of your week! The weekend is calling! Thanks so much for supporting the challenge!

No belaying for me. Kind of a tow rope for skiing minus the motor. No the lot is not nearly as steep as Michigan. Here is more like repelling lol.

I am not a big tomato guy, but Sis loves them. I would like some corn and cucumbers. Perhaps even a few beans and peppers. Oh and a couple of cherry trees, please! 🙂

That's good. I was eyeballing the incline up there! You can tell I haven't looked at much lake property. Although, in the UP the properties were just like I described above, pretty much flat and a straight walk out to the dock/lake.

I am a huge tomato fan, but, only fresh grown ones, not hothouse. It has nothing to do with being a snob, it just has no taste to me. It does color it up nicely though. I have a few stalks of corn going! :) But, I don't want a lawn of corn, so I am not sure if I will do more. I will let you know how it tastes and that will decide. Beans are fun and peppers and zucchini are easy! So they get my vote. I have 2 pumpkins! :)

You live in VIRGINIA!! You need a cherry tree! I have two different ones here in WigleWest. Take a gander at the corn! I am so excited! :))

Oh ouch. We're all going to have to get better at pinching pennies in this economy!

Maybe we'll all eat a little less, lose a little weight and get a little healthier? (I'm always looking for the bright side!)

The trouble is we’re governed by criminals. It’s bad over the other side of the pond too.

We can feel the inflation in our country, the Philippines too. I guess it's inevitable and will continue to shoot as years pass by.

That's a good idea !

I did notice the steep pitch of the land going down to the lake at your current home and the new lot. I too understood the safety from flooding that would be good for, but all those steps ! Going down not so bad, coming back up.... now THAT is another story. I might would need a 4-wheeler....LOL !.... a chair lift???

The price gouging is just hideous ! ... and in the past, when some excuse caused many or certain things to go up, when the economy changed for the better, the prices never got back down to what they once were. I feel sorry for the folks that already couldn't afford or could barely afford the essentials.
