Seemingly Such Sadness

Happy Tree Tuesday

Yes Michigan is usually cold, but we are not cold enough to have a lot of brown leaves already. Sadly a lot of the trees I shot were dead. Many, like the owner of those brown oak leaves were a victim of our latest storm!

SNY01038.jpg
This limb that cracked off the side of this tree was about the size of many trees itself!

Others had been down for a while, yet beautiful in their own way.

Now this tree was was an unexpected find being that it is over a trail at the park.

This is basically deadfall that is being held up by a rotten and cracked limb that is pole vaulting it from falling!

Talk about a potential widow maker! Basically it is a set mousetrap just waiting for the proper nudge to spring it!

Speaking of death, plants of course are not immune from disease. My poinsettia lasted several years, but just developed this white dust problem. It had a good run and had a more years than most.

Although they say it is part of the circle of life, I am always glad to see not everything is doom and gloom or death and dying. Here we have a very healthy looking shag bark hickory.

Can you spot the hickory nut? If you were a squirrel you would! They go nuts for them LOL.

Have a great hump day tomorrow!

Wow! If you buy those hickory nuts shelled, they are about $25.00 to t$30.00 a pound! That is just crazy, but, I do love to brine the nutmeats on the shagbark hickory trees. Do you eat nuts? Hickory trees are not as popular here as they are up there. Maybe in the Southwest corner of Virginia. I am not sure.

You really do have a lot of brown leaves! You aren't even proper cold yet! Hehe. It's coming! Don't you worry! It's looking for you. Don't you dare bring that cold down here! We have patiently waited to chase out the cold and snow. We are all good now and have been for three years. :)

Mother Nature sure can be brutal, can't she? This is the same mother that is kind and gentle. A real live Cybil, n'est pas?

Trees for Tuesday. Happpy #TreeTuesday!

It sure has been lonely without the old man throwing one out there.

Even though I know you said it was from the storm, those brown leaves bode of winter thoughts... ugh ! ... but it was a nice photo featuring that cluster of sad leaves.

I am not sure if I have ever eaten a hickory nut.

That is right! A foreshadowing of what is not too far away. Funny how some of the oaks hold those brown leaves till spring!
