Shortages on a Market Friday?

Hello Friends!

Welcome to my Market Friday!

20220111_165817.jpg

As always a special thank you to @dswigle that always makes Market Friday so much fun from week to week! I love to participate in the Market Friday fun, but find it difficult many weeks to find an interesting angle due mainly to my trying to limit how much I am out in public during this endless pandemic!

I went into a new Kroger. Well I should say it was not new actually, just new to me lol. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of flowers that greeted me upon arrival! There were fresh cut flowers...

As well as tulip bulbs with plants ready to bloom...

Even a nice supply or orchids blooming away!

There were even some potted plants for home decor!

However there were some empty shelves!

Strangely there were no containers of spring mix or 50/50 mix salads. All that was there were Caesar salad kits.

And a live lettuce head that I bought to try...

I am going to try to grow some another head from the root ball!

Then several days later there was plenty of lettuce but something way more important was missing....

Lets hope we dont go back to the days of bigger shortages again! Let me know if you are seeing any shortages or empty shelves where you are at...

Shortage! What a bad word! The sight of it is saddening, annoying and terrifying, all feelings at the same time ! 😖
In my area , here in Ohio, I don't see much variety now in the supermarkets and prices have gone up . INFLATION!!!!Another terrifying word for me.
First time I see a living lettuce on a plastic container. I think the can is killing it 😂

I am in Michigan and have had full shelves up until just a few days ago. Sure a few rare items like sliced bamboo (which I love lol) have been out, but I figure all those cans are on a cargo ship off of Cali. But the lettuce being out was pretty weird tbh.

Yes, now it’s better to be less frequent in crowded places, you’re right! We are in Israel in the midst of the fifth wave of the virus. flowers are very beautiful. I have never seen flowers sold like you have in the photo! tulips with bulbs are packaged very beautifully!

The first thing I fell in love with after opening this post were the flowers, they are beautiful..

I heard there was a lettuce recal fairly recently, but not sure how large of an area it covered, but just another possibility.

I don't go in the stores much. One Dollar General last weekend had a nearly empty dairy case, yet the next day, another had plenty. I do know the stores fall under different area controls, so don't know that hat could affect them like that or not.

As long as there is SOME food.... we'll be ok. We do need our veggies though.

For sure. I dont mean to imply there is a general shortage of food as a whole. After all we probably dont need nearly a dozen different frozen pizza brands to choose from!

Yes, saddening. I heard of shortages. Last week we had shortage of leading Paracetamol in our pharmacy. People were confused why.

There's certainly no shortages on flowers. Seeing those empty shelves is a little alarming to be honest. I hope there isn't a shortage on yeast or bread flour again, that was a real pain to get at one point.

Yes or even worse; a shortage of TP as that can be a real pain in the ass! 🤣

The lettuce was a problem from WalMart to ten other area stores. It is all better now, but, I do love my salads, so it was pretty annoying to me. The lettuce you are holding, well, by now you have eaten it and it is pretty good, but, doesn't have the bite that the 50/50 does. I do mix some lettuce in with the 50/50, it stretches it a bit and I like the different textures.

The flowers are gorgeous! No shortage there! Kroger really has a nice selection and look at those orchids!!!

I am ready for the shortages! I am all stocked up. I will hold back and not show off the pantry. But, these self-made shortages are pretty annoying. I am with @buffalobison - Yeast and flour! No bueno!

Thanks so much for participating in #MarketFriday!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
