Welcome to the Henry Ford Museum

A Douglas DC-3

One way to have a Beautifully Sublime Sunday is to pay a visit to the Henry Ford Museum. Only about an hour and a half from my home and located in Dearborn Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit and where Henry Ford started his manufacturing of autos.

The Beautiful Sunday and Sublime Sunday tags are some of my faves! I want to thank @ace108 for running the beautiful Sunday tag every week and keeping such detailed stats and supporting the accounts. Also, a shout out to @c0ff33a for the sublime Sunday tag where your random Sunday posts are always welcome!

We were able to take so many nice photos of many interesting items, I feel compelled to break them up into more than one post! This week I will stick with aviation.

This gives you an idea of just how big the DC-3 really is!

Josephine Ford donated the money used for the plane to explore the Artic in the 1920's!

Here is a replica of the 1903 Wright Brothers plane that made flight history.

Built in 1939 this is the famous Igor Sikorsky helicopter, which was the first helicopter to take flight, and its debut flight was on the front lawn of the Henry Ford!

This is an interesting plane built in 1931. It takes off like a normal plane, but can land vertically. Basically a forerunner to our modern Osprey.

This 1928 Ford tri motor plane.

In 1929 Richard Byrd was actually person to fly this plane over the South Pole!

I enjoyed seeing these old aircraft photos.

That the first helicopter looks a bit sketchy for air travel. Funny how far they have come to the current sleek looking flying machines.

Looks like you had a #SublimeSunday for sure! It is always good to break away from all that work and enjoy yourself.

I like the architectural features that make it such a class act. Do they still have the timed entries? Although that might be annoying for those waiting, it makes for such a nice tour without it being too crowded. The world of flight. So fascinating. I look forward to more pictures.

As far as the helicopter. Yeah, no. I am not that adventurous!

Have a nice Monday, I am obviously running late again.

I would try it at least once as a passenger. Just for the experience. To see and feel how does it feel to fly with a helicopter.

I have been on modern ones, but, not the beginning series. That is for the not so faint-hearted!

The presentation is impressive. I'm not sure where to look first, that DC-3 is catching my attention with its immense size.
