Hello, my people of Hive, how are you, I hope you are well, today I am not here to talk about any game in general, but about a topic that has always been much debated among people who like MMORPGs, some "Automatic" mode within these same.

It should be noted that I will speak from my point of view, as everyone knows in these issues there are too many points of view so everyone speaks from their understanding, but of course, there are things that are irrefutable even if many people want to think differently.

First of all, I will not only talk about a single "Automatic" system, but I will highlight certain things that seem relevant to me since there are a few things that deserve a good mention, I will also try to talk about the positive and negative side of things as well since that is the best way to do it.

  • Macros

1111.gif

Wow_2023_01_30_15_13_31_034.png

An excellent system that could be considered somewhat automatic is the "Macros", these are implemented in games such as World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, among others. But the thing is that this in my opinion is a more semi-automatic system, as it allows you to perform many actions with a single key, of course, that only happens if you have good use of the commands and skills that have synergy with each other.

The strengths of this system are many, especially in MMORPGs, as they are games where you mostly have a LOT of skills to use.

In WoW, which is where I have mostly used it, it is used to launch the BUFF in an effective way, either when Burstear an enemy, or when it comes to be healer macros are amazing. They are also used for many professions and more. This applies to almost all games that use macros, not just WOW.

In my opinion with this system, I don't have many negative things to talk about, since it is a very complete system, it is simple, but it is not mandatory, in most of the games that I have seen this system, there is a certain part of the community that uses it and another part that doesn't. The only problem I would see with this system is that I don't have many negative things to talk about.

The only problem I would see is that when you use them so much, you become dependent on them, then when you don't have them, things become more difficult.

  • Auto Run

run-run-chocobo[1].gif

It is true that the MMORPG is one of the things that stands out the most in its large maps, full of life wherever you see them, this is often the most tedious because you have to walk a lot when you start, so I feel that the autorun system is necessary.

If it is true that sometimes the fact that your character walks alone is an advantage since you don't have to be all the time pressing W all the time, there are people who prefer that it doesn't exist, since they say that you lose a lot of the landscape of these maps in which they put so much effort.

In my case I think it is something 100% necessary because, in games like WoW, Guild Wars 2, and Black Desert, the start is very late because you have to go from side to side without stopping, often long distances, although well there always comes a time where they give you mounts, which makes everything faster.

The problem with this is that many times the autorun facilitates the creation of bots, which are the biggest plague that can fall to an MMORPG, the living proof of this is currently LOST ARK, although they are small maps, even though they take advantage of the autorun.

  • Auto combat and missions

unwbn0vdk5kpxmnoki0x[1].gif

Now we will talk about the system that basically in my opinion is what makes 95% of the android MMORPGs fail since I have only seen this system implemented in these MMORPGs.

First, we will talk about the quest system, in my opinion, it is horrible that practically by clicking on the quest, you practically complete it, you just have to click "Next" and "Next" and that's it.
In my opinion, this system takes away a lot from an MMORPG, I don't understand why they didn't follow at least the Rune Of magic mode, which was to click on the map where the mission was and it took you there, I liked that system better.

In the auto-combat no way, let's say it is simply to remove all the sense to an MMORPG, but many have chosen to do so, and SPOILER ends up failing.

I speak only of android MMORPG in this system because they are the only ones that apply it, let's say that what is on PC with this system is because they are brought from Android to PC.

I will never understand why they could not follow the example of Genshin Impact which only has Autorun.

Well, my people, this has been all my post for today, I hope you liked it as much as I did, see you in the next post.

Auto run should be available when possible but perhaps at a lesser speed than doing it manually. Eve online has an 'Auto Pilot' feature that allows the player to select a destination and let the game do all the work, the only thing is that the ship will warp further away from a warp gate and will then take time to fly in range before jumping to the next system whereas if the player just selected to jump to the gate than it would happen upon exiting the fast travel.

I think that would sort of balance the 'botting' problem. People probably wouldn't waste their time botting if it was going to take the bot longer to complete a task using an 'auto run' feature. Also if it was slower it can give players a moment to take a break while still reaching their destination.

Macros are a tough area, mix/maxers will create macros that chain abilities together that destroy regular players and will probably create a 'Meta' where the top players NEED to have those macros otherwise everybody else would stand no chance.

'Auto Combat' is sometimes how a games combat system is created, in most MMORPGs basic attacks are just the character automatically swinging their main weapon to simulate battle and the main activity being the player pressing keys for abilities, World of Warcraft is a prime example of this. Although auto battlers and 'AFK Arena's have sprung up the concept is still the same.

Now a days, if an MMORPG doesn't have at least ONE of these mechanics then the player base will probably dwindle quickly. I remember some MMORPGs not having a 'jump' button and that was the main reason many players to quit.

It's silly but convenience is a big deal for a game that players are meant to spend many hours playing.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on the subject. It made me realize maybe I take some automatic features in a game for granted.

Exactly, you are absolutely right, especially when you mention that in some MMORPGs that you couldn't jump, many people lost for that very reason.

Unfortunately, I've never played Eve Online, but that Autorun system is very well done because there comes a point where you get bored of going from side to side when the maps are very large, and well in the case of Eve Online is the space haha.

Thank you very much for your comment :D and also for sharing your opinion.
