A Snowy Wednesday Walk in the Woods (23 photos)

We finally got some of our first real snow of the year. It wasn't much as you can see by the trees but it was enough to cover the ground pretty well. With the bright sunny day and the extremely blue skies, it was an excellent for a snow covered walk in the woods. 😀

A built up fire ring. I can imagine myself grabbing a chair, pulling it up close to the fire and just relaxing in nature for a while. 🥂

A four shot panorama of the open forest. The cold brisk air, the bright blue skies and all the amazing scents of the forest had me just standing and trying to make myself one with nature.

A couple of old sentinels of the forest from a time long ago. Compared to what is in the area now these trees were massive.

Here is part of the fallen tree from the second tree. Bonus points to anyone who can tell me the age by counting the rings. 😜

And here is the next generation waiting its turn to sprout and grow big and strong. Life continues on.

The area I live in is quite close to the Cascade Mountain Range in the Western U.S. It can be a very rocky area with a lot of old lava flows from volcanic activity. Some of these were as recent as 1500-3000 years ago. Not very long ago in geologic time.

I've always been enamored with rock formations ever since I was a kid. I'm very lucky to live in an area where I can literally walk a mile or so out my door and be immersed in these formations.

A look down the road to a foothill of the Cascades.

As I take a last look at the forest on my way home...

A look down reveals the abundance and diversity of life that resides within its boundries.

Love the area you got some pics of! I do quite enjoy a bit of time in the woods after a snow. It’s so quiet and peaceful! Fun to see the tracks about there, looks like coyote, rabbit/hare and maybe squirrel. Keep warm!

I am fortunate to have a semi-wilderness type area to walk in most every day. Allows me to align myself with nature on a daily basis.

We just got a few more inches of snow... should be interesting to see the tracks now. 😀

Thank you!

I haven't done NC in a couple months. Everything always kept changing and I couldn't or didn't want to try and keep up. lol. Just trying to keep up with everything in the Hive ecosystem keeps me pretty busy anyway. Games, defi., posting, NFT's, curating and just trying to stay ahead of the learning curve is almost a full time job. :)
