Call to Action: Hive and Leo Finance - Showing This Old Man(s) a Future to Believe In

(Edited)

Hive and Leo Finance have become a pretty big piece of my everyday life. I guess you could say it has become my "job" and one that I thoroughly enjoy for a change. :) I find myself looking at the possibility of financial abundance that I have never really had in my life. My pot(s) of gold at the end of the rainbow perhaps? ;)

Some Quick Background

Disgusted with corporate America and the daily grind of a work a day world I quit it all in 2014. A thirty year career had left me disillusioned and border line depressed as I approached my mid fifties. I sold my house, moved away from an area I had been in for 40 some years, and tried to figure out what I would do next while living off of my home sale proceeds and 401k retirement funds.

Blockchain and Crypto Exposure

In late 2016 while browsing the internet I almost joined a platform called Steem Hive. For whatever reason I didn't join that day and it wouldn't be until early 2018 that I finally pulled the trigger. I saw it as a way to possibly earn some money posting about my new found hobby of photography.

As these screen grabs show it wasn't exactly a roaring start (lol) but I continued posting, curating others work and reading/learning as much as I could about crypto and blockchain.

Hive and Leo Finance

With the hard fork to Hive in early in 2020 I suddenly doubled my meager stake. Flush with new found wealth I was ready to start exploring crypto and the chain a little more than just posting my photography. I learned about using the exchanges and how to move my crypto around. I even bought a small amount of BTC.

For me though the most profound move I made was acquiring some LEO on Hive Engine. This led me to interactions with a whole new group of crypto enthusiasts. Leo Finance was full of people wanting to learn more about the cryptovesrse and more importantly there were a lot users willing to share their experiences and help the noobs amongst us. :)

By the time CubDeFi came along I had complete confidence in the team behind it and the future ahead. If not for that trust, I may never had ventured into the DeFi space. From the 8 CUB I received in the airdrop I now have nearly 3200 and am collecting another 30-40 per week. And I know that things are just getting started.

I now find myself involved in several projects in the Hive ecosystem. Long term investment coins like SPI, LBI and SEED. I am finding the gaming aspect of Hive - Splinterlands, Hashkings, Dcrops, Risingstar, not only fun but potentially very profitable. There is literally so many new projects and updates to old ones that it can become hard for me to keep up. I wouldn't have it any other way though. There is definitely something for everyone here. :)

Where I Am Now

The recent run up in HIVE has has given my crypto portfolio a boost to around $30k. All but about $1000 of that was earned through blogging, trading, and listening/reading the great advice given by the users of this community. And as you can see below my latest 2 posts have hit highs that 2018 me could have only dreamed of. ;)

I'm aware that things can always change and there may be a downturn at some point but a continued upswing is always a distinct possibility. In crypto a 5x, 10x even a 100x jump is not out of the question. So as I approach my mid 60's I have a feeling of finally realizing some financial abundance. Just wish this all could have happened some 40 years ago. lol.

Please feel free to make comments or ask me any questions about this post.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

Not financial advice in any way.

Honestly enough I'm really excited about all of this and I've built quite a pile.

I've got a great investment however trying to cash out for the first time has been an absolute nightmare and I'm so stressed I've lost nearly 10% of what I was trying to pull out and fee erosion is just destroying any chance that I have getting more than a tiny fraction of what I tried to pull out.

Absolute nightmare everything was going great and my first hive cash out...

Now I'm stuck with Bitcoin that I can't do anything with.

WTH....

I don't know I'll see what I can do to remedy this situation.

I'm sorry to hear about your cash out troubles.

Don't know if this helps you at all but I recently have sold some small chunks of Hive using Bittrex. Once I transferred the Hive to Bittrex I used the HIVE/USD pairing to get dollars and then send to those to my bank account. It requires KYC to attach your bank account and I know some people are against that. Overall though it was fairly easy with what to me seemed like low cost transaction fees.

Yeah it's been a nightmare signing up on that exchange. Coinbase ended up being a nightmare too. I've been through so many signups I'm not sure what their passwords are as over and over they haven't been of use.

They definitely want me to send them my balance so they can take fees and fees and fees.

Just an absolute nightmare and I know exactly most of my friends say they want nothing to do with cryptocurrency.

Until the technology catches up we will never have mass adoption. Actually I am seeing this turning into a niche industry. Where unless you're dealing with phenomenal amounts of money Bitcoin is completely useless.

Imagine this if I want to take out enough money for dinner I have to pay $30. If I want to take out $1,000 I still have to pay that $30. And each of these additional fees erodes anything that you could possibly have or gain. And just for somebody to hand your money over from your account to another account? LoL.

There absolutely has to be a better way.

I've got a little BTC but have pretty much given up on accumulating any of that. I'll just hold it and pass it on to my kids when it is maybe up to a million a coin. 😀

The HIVE/USD pair on Bittrex worked pretty good for me. I think I only ended up paying $5-10 dollars tops in various fees for 3 or 4 transactions ($200 or so each time) spread out over a month or so when I was trying to sell high and buy back low. The only problem I encountered with Bittrex was HIVE being in maintenance for a while and a couldn't move it.

I think and hope things will eventually get easier with time but you are right there does seem to be some pretty high fees to do certain things in crypto.

Yep I appreciate all the advice and I'm working on opening multiple different accounts and trying to set up how to get this transferred over into US dollars.

This really has been a pain. No wonder most people avoid cryptocurrency like the plague.

The power of consistency, looking at your earlier earning and it is a kind of inspiration for a beginner like me.

Thanks you for sharing your hive journey.

You are welcome and I'm glad my story was somewhat inspiring. In addition to my own financial well being I hope crypto and blockchain can be a rising tide that lifts all boats not just those of the already wealthy. 😀
