January Turkeys
It was a cold January morning and we were looking for a place to walk where we could avoid the thin layer of ice on most the hard surfaces. We ended up choosing a local park/campground that was mostly grass, gravel and pine needles.
The first sight we see is a flock or rafter of turkeys. I hurriedly grabbed my camera and started taking some shots.
They may have been spooked by our arrival and started moving to the other side of the creek. These shots are a little blurry as I was trying to hurry and capture them as they flew across the creek. Unfortunately my camera settings were less than ideal for moving objects. :)
Here is a couple shots of them across the creek. The rest of the images will be taken after we cross the bridge into the campground.
After spending a short time pecking at the campground floor...
They flap their wings...
And head for greener pastures.

Thank you!
They are so huge and there are so many of them!
They are definitely well fed for wild "town" turkeys. There were so many I could only capture about a third of them at a time. Maybe 40-45.
Great photos! They are so incredible and awesome to watch.
Thank you! I just wish I could have got some better images of them flying. There feather patterns and colors are amazing.
Thank you!
