Seasonal Creek

Join me for a couple little walks along Trout Creek near where I live.

This is usually a dry creek bed for most of the year. However the warming weather of spring brings a small torrent off the east slopes of the Cascade Mountain range and winds it way through the pine forest on the edge of the high desert in Central Oregon.

The photo above and the following four were taken in late April on a morning walk in the forest. As I neared the normally dry creek bed I began to hear the distinct sounds of running water. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find the creek flowing with water so I pulled out my Samsung S20 and took a few shots on my stroll up the creek.

Even though there is an established bed, it appears the creek does a little creative re-routing from year to year. 😀

A few days later I decided to drive upstream and explore a little more of the creek. The following shots were taken with my Nikon D3300 with some Lightroom post processing.

While the water in the creek was crystal clear the surrounding air was a little smoky from a prescribed burn. The Forest Service does these burns to help mitigate wildfire later in the season. While I understand the reasoning behind the policy it still sucks to have a wonderful spring day
invaded by smoke. Luckily Lightroom helped me erase some of that smoke from my shots. 😀

A fallen snag across the creek.

Flowing smoothly in the channel.

A slight disruption in the flow.

A larger disruption in the flow. lol.

Well, that's it for today hope you enjoyed the journey along the creek.
