MY FIRST TRIAL ON CUT TOGETHER SHOULDER AND SLEEVE TOP
Good morning everyone, I bring to you my latest design. A cut together top. It is called a cut together because the shoulder and the sleeve was measured and cut together and not separately like we do in shirt or kaftan.
When my client brough this style, I couldn't reject it that I haven't made such before cause it's not even professional, so I sat down cracking my brain on how to get this perfectly and make my client happy.
I tried cutting papers first, so I did that severaly spending more time and of a truth it was tiring but I'm so happy I got it right at the long run, then I could cut the fabric itself.
So I will be sharing how I made this lovely top.
MATERIALS USED
- fabric (Irish material)
- invisible zip
- buttons
- hair stay
- paper stay
CUTTING PROCESS
I folded the materials together considering the addition of the shoulder and sleeve with allowances.
This times I ignore shoulder rest, so I measure and cut out the neck, measure the arm hole, the chest adding up-to an inch, then the length with no allowance cause it has a joining at the tip.
Then I made available all I will be using for pocket, taping, chest collar, extension for sleeve and length.
SEWING PROCESS
what I did first was joining the shoulders together, though I left one part for invisible zip. After joining the shoulders then I tape the neck and fixed the invisible zip.
Then I added the extension to the sleeve and length, adding pocket too and I fixed the buttons.
Interesting sleeve design; so good you could find out a way how to make this grown on sleeve.
