Author Highlights of the Year || Celebrating Hive Learners Anniversary

I have been able to grow over the past year on Hive, but not just because I have been showing up as much as I can, but equally because I have been inspired and encouraged to do better and keep "staying" because of certain individuals in this very space. Today, I am going to be hearty in my approbation toward some of them, as they have been part of my grow, and I am grateful for that — in celebration of the Hive Learner's anniversary.

Most certainly, I have come across many individuals that have been a big part of my growth here, so if I should ride on my excitement and pour out my thoughts about everyone of them, you might as well have skipped this post upon seeing "10000 words"—who's going to read that? And so, therefore, I will be selecting only five of them that have been a part of this community and have made it home for me. Please note that the following list is in no particular order. If only I could have put them all in horizontal order, I would have done that instead.

Sweet Nkem

@nkemakonam89 should know that I appreciate her for many things, and some of them are her honesty, humility, tenderness, and transparency. I haven't met her in person, but I could deduce all that from her personality in her articles. She writes with such readiness and is always cheerful in them too, except when she is ranting about how groundnut oil is now expensive or there's no cash; that's a different ballgame, though. All in all, her personality radiates through her articles. It's also one of the reasons she's one of my favorite authors.

Articles aside, her level of engagement is on another level. It's amazing and inspiring how she manages to juggle everything she has on her plate while still posting and commenting quickly. I throw a salute her way. That teaches me to be better, and it's another reason why you're here.

This is my favorite post of hers. It is so because of the enthusiasm she has for the Yoruba language and because the experiences she shared were so hilarious and relatable. She was genuine in the post, and I found the post really funny — I still find it funny. I cannot help but imagine how she tries to negotiate with Yoruba market women when she goes shopping._{Click here to find it.}

Sir George

Fancy name, innit? Well, that's how I'd like to refer to him, @george-dee, because he writes his stories like he is William Shakespeare. I love his writing. He writes as though she is narrating to the audience's ears, with much life and relatability too. I like how he takes his time to put quality into his content every time.

He not only writes well but also takes the time to put in good effort to engage with enthusiasm. His support for many of the Hive Learners, particularly myself, is immense, and I appreciate that.

This article is my favorite of his. Remember the lockdown, and how many of us felt confined for too long? Yeah, you do. In this post, he shared about how he would handle things if there were another lockdown, how he would survive, and what he would do differently.

You'll find in this post the sincerity and good quality in sharing his insights, and he also backs it up with how prepared he is with his plethora of food items — more like he knows another lockdown is imminent. Hopefully, another pandemic doesn't happen. I would suspect him. _{Click here to find it.}

The Finguru

Ah, yes, the man with the many insightful teachings. I found @finguru in my early days of Hive, trying to get the hand of engagement and finding my way around communities. And ever since then, I have always been imparted different types of knowledge expressed in his articles.

Another thing that inspires me about him is his consistency and indebtedness to the blockchain. It is only recently that he had to veer off a bit as it was necessary. But then, with his thirst for knowledge, he has come back bigger and with more to share.

This is my favorite post of his. This is probably the first post of his that I've read. It is about how the development of eagerness and curiosity for learning, as well as keen observation, can lead one to enlightenment in many ways as they aid learning processes, especially on Hive. The Walking the Wisdom?

Yeah, let's leave it at that title. Many of us here in this community know this man, @josediccus, and most of that lot of us may attest rightly to this title I have given him. Why? Well, it's pretty self-explanatory, in the sense that he literally walks around the community with wisdom. And I am sincere.

The first time I read his posts, I felt like I needed to go back to nursery school or something. He is a man I have come to admire, not for the go-check-your-dictionary words, but for his depth of understanding in certain aspects of life. And his articles reflect his understanding in the form of, well, wisdom. And his zeal and consistency are inspiring; they are almost like he doesn't have his own issues, when in reality he does.

The title of this post is what drew me in. I was curious to know what this man was going to talk about with a verse from the holy Bible— was he going to preach? Well, it was centered around the truth that although some individuals may be "lucky" in some cases to be fortunate, one has to actually put in the effort to ensure that they reap the benefits. It's an enlightening article I found interesting, and it's my favorite of his. _{Click here to find it.}

My Brother

The last, but definitely not the least, is my very own brother, @starstrings01. He is the reason I found my way to Hive, but that really isn't why he is here. As much as we are close to each other and share a lot in common, he has been such a man of inspiration and encouragement.

He not only writes amazing articles that he puts a lot of time and effort into, but he is a pillar that holds a lot of aspects of Hive. Many of us know how much of an impact he has had on the chain. From building and grooming newbies to facilitating avenues for people to be positively impacted, he has shown that he is indeed a man worth emulating, and of course, one of my favorite authors.

I will pick this post of his about pepper to be my favorite post of his. And it's not because he couldn't bring himself to admit my dexterous culinary skills, simply because he couldn't handle small pepper, but because it's an example of how much of brothers we've now become. Well, that's a wrap on my favorite authors over the past year. Quite the journey, innit? However, they are not the only ones that have contributed to my journey here on Hive. Every single person I have read from has added something to me, as I am sure I have learned one or two things from them, be it in any form. And with some of them, our friendship keeps growing.
