Jay's Digital Ecosystem

One thing I do regularly is listen to podcasts. Most of the podcast shows I listen to are about self-help, and others are about tech and finance. There's a wealth of knowledge that I gain from just sitting or walking and listening to people with knowledge and experience, all with my earphones, phone, and PC. And it's only an example of the many ways technology helps me grow.

I find myself surfing through apps on my phone and PC daily for a wide variety of tasks and activities. While they provide convenience, they also play a role in my personal growth and development.

Learning is key. It never stops, as we all know. Being able to just sit in my room at home and learn just about anything I want on platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and Khan Academy, I am reminded every day just how much one can achieve with the right digital tools.

I have, in fact, enrolled in yet another course that should start soon and last for many months. I really would never have to be in a physical class or something to learn.

Keeping myself together every day can be daunting, if I am being honest with myself. The way I am able to manage is by using specific apps and tools to be productive, organized, and on track.

To list a few... My Notes app is where I pour out my random ideas that could potentially be useful later, just so I don't forget them. Todoist is my main to-do list app, where I, you know, organize some things to do and when to do them. PocketBook is what I use to read e-books, particularly EPUB files, although I haven't been doing much of that lately.

To keep myself in the loop about things, I try to use social media apps. You'll find my Top Picks and Personal Favorites to have a few familiar ones. These days, YouTube seems to be topping the list.

YouTube is where I do most of my learning these days. I have been spending a lot of time exploring specific niches there lately. I'd say understanding the YouTube algorithm more has been my strongest focus, alongside learning to create content better.

And speaking of creating content, it's interesting to me how much I have been able to develop in the last couple of years. This year, in particular, has the largest growth. Being able to narrow my interests is one thing, and being enabled to explore them is another. I have access to explore these interests because of digital technologies.

Going to another part of the spectrum, I have observed that my physical health is much better when I keep track of my wellbeing and fitness.

I used to track how many pushups I do in a day, how many steps I take, and a few other metrics. It's easier to see one's performance when there are records to visit. And that's why I use my phone.

Push-ups and bench presses are my favorite exercises, for example. When I keep track of how many reps and sets I do daily and compare them with the results I get, I can determine whether or not and when to make adjustments. I simply log the data on my phone. This applies to monitoring my sleep routine.

And here's a bit of how I grow and develop myself with technology. It's pretty much this week's prompt. If you're interested in more, indulge yourself here.

Hehe. I think I do not have so many requirements in this case. The Hive+youtube feature both are enough for me as I think I do almost noting all the day😅.

Nah, man. You definitely don't do nothing all day, especially if you're usually on Hive and YouTube. I know you watch Ali Abdaal for sure. Any other favourites?

Lol, I'm a prude Jay. Technicalities scare me alot and so I don't have much in my ecosystem.

This is intresting, I thought apps like that weren’t really certain of the footsteps.

😊, This is a good News.

It helps me keep my thoughts collected using Notes, yeah. We all have our ways...

This is amazing.
You are making good use of your devices. The most impressive part of this content is your ability to narrow down things to your niche. I am still finding my way around that and I pray it shouldn't take too much time.
I also love YouTube and pocketbook, followed by Hive.

Happy weekend 🎉

I keep exploring my passion, really. And I know that one thing that's consistent always. I hope you find yours, too.

I wonder who your favourite YouTubers are, and book authors too.

I don't think I have any favourite Youtuber. Same with book authors.
I just search for what I want and consume it🤭. But I've come to read more of Colleen Hoover and James Patterson.

May I know your favourites?

Good to hang around tech, hoping you don't turn AI itself, lols. I really do keep track of my notes just as you said for random ideas. Haven't delve into pod cast. Any further encouragement from you to do so?

Well, I don't read books much. Just like music, it's much easier for me to listen to insightful conversations or teachings from a podcast. If you're into music, then I guess may want to give it a try.

A friend and I were talking a few days ago about how the internet is literally a free university. At this point, accredited certifications are the only reason people pay the huge amounts of money they pay to go University, because you can literally design your own entire degree, and lane it at your own pace too. I like taking courses on Coursera, but the fact that the places I want to use the knowledge acquired don't recognize the certifications is a real discouragement sometimes. So most time with online courses, we just learn for knowledge and the joy of it. The certifications usually don't matter much in the IT world (which I suspect you're taking your courses for), because over there, it's more about what you can do than what certifications you have.

On a different topic, you have any Podcasts where it's a host and someone else or other people talking self-help and productivity, drop them here, man. Thanks.

I agree with you, man. I never disregard certificates, but I am more keen on gaining practical knowledge for myself and becoming more valuable. I think you can get stuck in the whole certificate and qualifications conundrum when you are trying to align with someone else's vision rather than your own.

For self-help podcasts, I listen to On Purpose by Jay Shetty, Deep Dive by Ali Abdaal, The Diary of a CEO, Love Life with Matthew Hussey, and Modern Wisdom by Chris Williamson. There other podcast shows I listen to; I'll share more on them in a post soon.
