Nature and health have something spectacular in common, if you live in a serene environment like the beach or a forest where there's abundant mix between you and these natural resources like flowers, green matters, water, animals(not predators), you tend to have a balanced mental flow. This is why Gardening is good for our mental healths, even a tiny plant in your living space or at work on your work space can reduce stress and induce a whole lot of relaxed feelings.

Not everyone would have an opportunity to have a Garden, but here a are few different theories as to why gardening is good for us as humans:

  • Studies have shown that humans react to Nature positively, most people are instinctively more at ease and relaxed within a natural environment as compared to walls of concretes or glasses and metals. Furthermore, plants release oxygen which help our brain to function better and also some plants have sweet odours that releases or triggers certain chemical reactions in our bodies and that could increase happiness and level of productiveness.
  • Certain set of people also believe that gardening is good healthy activity because it involves mental and physical exercises which releases endorphins in the body. Gardening is also a sort of art, a creative aspects that gives room for deep expression from the mind. You would agree if you have ever been into some gardens!
  • A sense of responsibility comes with Gardening, caring for plants, stems, flowers, roots, land tilling is a great sense of care and it is accompanied by the satisfaction of keeping plants alive and healthy. These responsibilities comes with enough sense of purpose and pride.
  • It builds self esteem because it always feel good to accomplish new tasks as well as keeps you fit, all the diggings ,planting and weeding burns calories and strengthens your heart and muscles.
  • Have you ever wondered why most mental institutions have large Gardens in its vicinity, tall tress and shrubs are known to help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety which helps treats mental illness.
  • "Mud bath" is a phenomenon, its good for the skin and getting some dirt under your nails and skin could be similar to a mud birth. It
makes individuals happy and inhaling some healthy bacteria like M.Vassse that lives in soil can increase level of serotonin and reduce anxiety as well.
  • Adequate exposure to sunlight help you to get a decent amount of vitamin D which will be beneficial to your eyes, skin, bones and immune system .

Fact is, Gardening seems like a daunting task but its actually a beneficial task. With the memories attached to a garden, you do not get allow mentally old as a result of much hopes, expectations, dreams etc that are attached to it. It could seem like we are nurturing plants and flowers in a garden, but its the reverse case, its the flowers and plants with stems of a garden that is keeping us healthy and alive.

I have never come across "mud birth" before. Is that a literal thing of giving birth in mud or an expression?
