Forgetting Enmity in Life Threatening situations: A tale of Cat and Mouse.

Can you see the Cat behind, both the Rodent and the Cat faces a higher threat- The Flood!

I know the Rat has all the attention, but look closely again, there is a cat right behind the electric pole. The Rat is taking refuge during a flood somewhere in the city where I live. A friend sent it to me so I couldn't say precisely where the image was taken and I take no credit for it, but there is a lesson in there which is paramount and I wish to share as a thougt.

Nature made Rodents and Cats born enemies, Rats/Mice, squirrels etc all scurry when they see a cat or a dog. Not by their will, just like Birds of prey and rodents and smaller animals. So each animals irrespective of their phylum or classification has an enemy from another specie, Nature made it so , even though not enemies per say but as food nature has designed to be irresistibly tasty to them. Now, you notice the Rats hiding high above the water level on a flooded street, exposed to many dangers, yes. But the Cat who is a natural predator seems to not notice it, or seems to be more pressed by its own safety first before a meal which is the Rat.

Both their lives were threatened hence the order of nature for one to kill the other for food never kicked in. Truth is, only the living will hunt right?

Nature could be disobeyed anytime any moment, especially in dire situations just you as you can see in the image, like during natural disasters, even in the wild a pride of Lion will choose to run in the event of wildfire than hunt for a Deer or Wildebeest!

I write a lot about Nature, Animals, Pets too, you can check my header to confirm!

At times it demonstrates your point. The strange tranquility between enemies under dire circumstances. At others, the opposite.
