Fall Festivities with the Program | Community Newsletter #6 October 2023

Greetings and welcome to the October Edition of the One Strong Community Newsletter, available on the One Strong Page. As we welcome the fall season, we are excited to share with you some of the wonderful events and activities that the One Strong Community Program took part in during the month of October.

We are proud to announce that our members have been actively participating in various activities and earning One Strong Tokens (OST), which serve as a community incentive token and a scholarship system.

October Community Updates

• One Strong Community Program featured in two Spooky City Events in Chicopee (Lambert Lavoie Elementary Trunk or Treat and Chicopee Spooktacular)

Our first venture took us to a local Trunk or Treat event, where we had the privilege of supporting our dedicated school-age member, Colby, and his Mom at the Lambert Lavoie Elementary event. Their car put together a captivating Witch-themed trunk, and we eagerly contributed by providing a variety of candy to make their setup extra special. It was heartwarming to witness the joy on the faces of the children as they received our sweet treats, creating cherished memories for the community.

For our second escapade, the One Strong Community Program joined the festivities at the Chicopee Spooktacular event. This time, we had the delightful Mr. Charlie as the show's star, dressed up as a taco, accompanied by his adorable puppet friend "Toro." Together, they spread smiles and Halloween cheer by giving out candy to all the visitors. We were fortunate to collaborate with high school volunteers from Chicopee Comprehensive High School, who added an extra layer of enthusiasm to the event, making it a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers from the One Strong Foundation and Chicopee Comprehensive High School. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm were instrumental in making these community events successful. It is through the collective efforts of such a passionate community that we can continue to bring joy and unity to the neighborhoods we serve. Thank you for helping us make a difference and for embodying the spirit of One Strong Community.

Letter from the Director 🤝

Hello everybody, Mr. Charlie here!

October has been incredibly busy for all of us here at the program. We(the members and I) are still getting used to the new space, equipment, and what it means to be a member of One Strong. Our goal as an afterschool program is to provide not only a space that is comfortable for the students but also active in challenging them to develop themselves culturally, spiritually, and educationally. This month has also seen a lot of growth and development when it comes to our engagement in the community. I hope that by bringing in another staff member next month, we can focus on bringing more children to the space to engage with us.

One of my favorite developments has been the Minecraft Monday series, where the students and I work together to gain resources and make buildings. We have developed the series into its playlist on the One Strong Community Program's Facebook page, so you can go there to experience that with us every week. Viewers can donate stars(tips) so that we can keep the creative project going thanks to our community.

One Strong Token Ecosystem

The One Strong Token (OST) is a digital asset that operates on the Hive blockchain's second layer, Hive-Engine. This token is exclusively distributed to members of @onestrong who possess Hive Accounts and actively engage with the diverse programs offered by the One Strong brand, encompassing the One Strong Community Program, One Strong Foundation, and One Strong Page.

With a total supply of 30,000 Active OSTs and an additional 70,000 Available OSTs residing in the @onestrong Hive account, the token's ecosystem is meticulously managed, with no new tokens generated since its initial creation.

Interns within the One Strong community have the opportunity to earn OST through active participation in Internship Programs, a unique initiative that not only rewards their efforts with tokens but also supports their career development. This comprehensive program includes skill assessments, resume reviews, and work readiness preparation, ensuring that interns receive valuable hands-on experience and guidance.

For students engaged in these programs, there's an additional incentive in the form of an hourly wage alongside the acquisition of One Strong Tokens, further enriching their experience.

Youth Members and Families affiliated with One Strong can also earn OST by actively engaging with the Community Newsletter and participating in various associated activities and programming. This encourages participation and interaction within the One Strong community, fostering a sense of unity and growth.

One Strong Tokens (OST) hold a vibrant market presence and can be actively traded on hive-engine.com/trade/OST. Notably, the @onestrongfund account is proactively engaged in repurchasing OST from members, offering a competitive rate of at least 0.05 SWAP.HIVE for each OST. These rates are determined by the 2023 Internship Class, reflecting the commitment of the One Strong community to support and incentivize its members in their journey towards growth and empowerment.

This grant will support our mission to engage and empower students from Chicopee Comprehensive High School's Design and Visual Communication department to continue the Internship Project.
