Is it an entitlement mentality when testers/users want Airdrops rewards for interacting with a project?
I find myself writing more about Airdrops these days. In all my other articles I have been 100 percent against the project developers and founders for not distributing airdrops to the community members after a lot of people have spent time and energy for days, weeks, and even months testing these projects' different features to ensure that they are all work before these projects get lunched. So many projects promised incentives like Airdrops to hook people or users to interact with their networks and test the projects for them, so it is not entitlement if you promised something to users and they are asking for it after doing their part whether real money is involved or not.
But on the other hand, because projects like SEI did not give out airdrops as users expected now a lot of people including myself, to be honest now tagged them as scammers to the extent that we all felt disappointed made the #SeiScam trend on Twitter today. Yes, these projects disappoint us when they promise to distribute Airdrops and they don't, I know how painful it is but another truth is that a lot of people are abusing these airdrop thing and it is not good. To be honest, It is not a must that a project that is about lunch to give out airdrops, I feel that many projects will stop giving out airdrops with the way people behave. But never the less "No Airdrop, No Community.
The sad truth is that projects are discovering that airdrops do not add value to their project as they use to in the past. Now people just claim airdrops and sell off the tokens claimed, which tanks the price of these projects, to make matters worst most people leave their ecosystem and stop interacting with these projects after selling off their Airdrops claimed. Anyways crypto projects still exploit people like SEI, TS, SUI, and the like of them who give users and testers numerous tasks to do but they end up not giving back to the community as much as they stressed them.
