Forte São Neutel - São Neutel Fortress

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

São Neutel Fortress.jpg

As I already told you here, Chaves has two fortifications. The one in São Francisco and the one in São Neutel.
This was the last one to be visited before our departure this long weekend.
The afternoon was very pleasant, just like a spring day. As soon as we got there we realized that it was huge and the desire to explore it was enormous. We went up the ramp and guess what???? It was closed :-(
Unbelievable!!! And the reason this happens is because this fort belongs to the Portuguese Army.
But as I'm not one to give up, I asked my dear husband to "borrow" the drone. I confess that it makes me very, very confused working with the drone. I'm clumsy with these remote control things as well as playing 3D games.

Subimos a rampa e adivinhem???? Estava fechado :-(

After we put it in the air we got an idea of the size of the Fort. But even that was proving difficult. As the Infantry Regiment is right next door, we had to submit our data to confirm that we were not spying or filming anything illegally. Even so, we had to make the drone do a big turn until it could fly over the fort.
Inside and in the center is the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Brotas, built before the fort, whose Lady is celebrated every year, on Easter Sunday, with a procession and festivities.
In 1994 an amphitheater was built by the City Council for concerts and outdoor activities.

A little further down, the Chaves Flavor Festival was taking place and the stage was set up for the program of a well-known Portuguese television channel that was going to take place the following day and which I already told you about here.
The smell of popcorn and plenty was in the air, which whetted the little one's appetite :-) We took advantage and went to get some more pastries from Chaves and headed home to rest and pack our bags.
