Museu do Côa Interior - C&D Contextualização Geográfica + Cultural e Santuário Arcaico / Riding Portugal

cover.jpg

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

And with this article, I conclude this pleasant visit to the Côa Museum, and in these rooms identified as C&D Geographical and Cultural Contextualization and Archaic Sanctuary, a change in tone is already noticeable. The space is longer and narrower, with exposed gray cement walls and a floor of the same material, but more worn. It doesn't have the total darkness of the first rooms here, but no natural light enters either. The lighting comes from spotlights that leave the rest of the space somewhat dark.

Right at the beginning there is a large replica of a stone slab inside a "Penascosa 3" wooden structure full of crossed lines, quite visible, but which at first glance would easily go unnoticed, but looking more closely it is possible to identify the shapes of the animals engraved in the stone. At another point, a display case with various stones and stone tools with which they very possibly carved the engravings on the cave walls.

Further ahead, against a dark background, a large figure appears, made of blue light. It's a contour drawing, with overlapping lines in the body area, forming something resembling a human or animal figure with horns. It immediately draws attention because it's isolated and the background is completely black.

The rest of the photos represent some of the external access spaces to the different rooms, as well as a small souvenir shop located right in front of the reception desk. The cement walls are high and smooth, with some loose white designs here and there. The floor reflects some of the light coming from the side corridors.
And with this article I say goodbye to Vila Nova de Foz Côa, with the intention of returning :)

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
