Emene Enugu natural gas discovery

Enugu state is located at south-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria, as the slogan of the state implies, "COAL CITY" enugu state is blessed with lots of mineral resources. on Friday, 27th of may 2022 natural gas were discovered in enugu by labourers who was hired to dig a borehole.

I just spoke with the geologist who was drilling water at the site. He said that they got the gas at about 1200 feet using a hammer drilling machine. He says that if it was a pipeline, there is no way it could have been buried that deep and there was no iron component to show any pipeline was ruptured.

He said the discovery was made on Tuesday and the fire service has not been able to quench the fire since then because they lack the type of chemical needed to quench it.

He said, that based on his estimation, it is likely a methane gas.

He said survey was carried out before the drilling, adding that no pipeline passed through that area."
