IN ENGLISH:
A big greeting to the entire community of HIVE-MOTORS, I tell you that last weekend, I went to the farm and one of the lamps on the post of the lighting, it lit intermittently, so my compadre and I decided to disassemble it, then we put a light bulb in it, thinking that the one I had had been damaged, and it turns out that the new light bulb had the same faults as the one I had, so I decided bring it to my house to check all its components such as the ballast, the socket, the cables and the Ignitor, this lamp is a 400w Sodium vapor, and they are the same model that is used in public lighting.

Yes friends, the lamp that illuminates a large part of the surroundings of my country house, presented a fault, it turned on but intermittently, it went off and lasted a few seconds and then it turned on again, as we commonly say blink, so I brought the lamp to check it here in my house in Puerto la Cruz, because here I have some spare parts for this type of lamp.

Well friends, I tell you that after reviewing the different components I realized that the problem was being caused by the ballast, since when this piece made contact with the housing of the lamp, it went to the ground, which caused the failure. I realized this because there was a moment when the lamp stayed on and when I changed its position it began to fail again, the lamp failed more on the pole, because the ground contact was greater, note that I raised the ballast so that it would not had contact with the casing and the lamp worked very well.

This was the lamp, perhaps with the movement of the tube several screws that fixed the ballast came out:

Solución al problema: / Solution to the problem:

Taking into account what was causing the problem, I decided to put a plastic plate on the ballast to serve as an insulator between this piece and the casing, I will show you part of this process below.

  • Cut a piece of plastic sheet thickness of 5 millimeters, to the width of the lamp and I opened some holes to fix the ballast:

  • Now I am going to put the ballast on the plastic sheet, for fixing I used screws and ramplus, taking care that the tips of the screws were hidden inside the ramplus and did not touch the casing:

  • After fixing the ballast on the plate, now I am going to place the ballast in the lamp, as you can see in the images, the ballast will no longer have contact with the lamp casing:

Well friends, I already have the lamp ready to install, tomorrow Saturday morning I am going to the farm, to take this lamp with me, at least I was able to solve this problem without having to buy a replacement, because these components are really expensive, I think a ballast of 400w costs 45 dollars, the cigarette lighter is about 8 dollars and the bulb is 12 dollars, so when a lamp fails I put my hands on my head thinking about the possible expense of spare parts, I have always repaired my lamps I have three lamps and they are all sodium Yes, I repair them, but I don't like mounting the post, I leave that to my friend, I can't work at height, I think I should respect my age, I don't want to say that I'm old, but I'm not a child. greetings.
