Danna Paola

Hello dear #Sketchbook community ✨.

This is Danna Paola, this little Rottweiler is the pet (daughter) of my friend @roadstories, she really seemed to me a tenderness, and I liked the idea of illustrating her, so I put my hands to work.

At first I wanted to do it in a traditional way with prismacolor colors on Kraft paper, but I got to a point where I noticed disproportion in the drawing, so I left it like that, honestly patience has never been my strong point and I'm my worst critic when it comes to art.

Danna is very photogenic, I had a hard time selecting the right photo to draw her. Once I had my decision with the photo, I made the initial sketch and the contour lines.

Here I start to make the fur, I chose a soft brush and black color...

in Autodesk Sketchbook there is a tool called "predictive stroke" that I use it a lot for the contour lines and the fur or hair.

... With the tool predictive stroke activated to its maximum and I was doing hair by hair, this makes it take a straight or curved firm shape without any distortion, then in another layer to give illumination in some areas of the fur, I used a light gray and on top of that I went back to slightly pass the black leaving some spaces.
I did the same with the brown part of his fur.

For his snout I used a dusty airbrush to give it texture, I did this with dark gray, black and white, then in a layer with fusion in "soft glow" I put that little glow. Then I made his eyes, which was a little complicated because of the angle.

Finally I made a small olive green sweater 😍, hehe for this I used an oil brush which I lowered the opacity to 46%, and with two shades of green and a toasted yellow I made small touches and then mixed them together in the first layer.
For the second layer I chose dark gray and lighter green and did the same as at the beginning, but this time I changed the opacity of the brush to 78%. To deepen the shadows I used the airbrush and black color. This was the final result.

So cute!!!
The traditional one actually looked great, too... But I understand your view about being patient. Hahaha
The digital version turned out really well... 🐕❤️

I must learn to be more patient, hahaha, but it is something that if I don't feel satisfied with how it is coming out, I don't keep doing it. Thank you very much for the comment. hehe

Hahaha... that's true! Patience is a must-have when making something. :D

That makes sense, it's better to stop and restart than waste more time on something you don't feel satisfied with. :)

You're welcome and more artworks to come!!!! ^^

At first, I thought the body is not appropriately created and after less than a minute, I realized that Danna Paola was actually wearing a coat. You did mention it to be a sweater but to me, it looks more like a winter coat. Anyhow, it looks really beautiful and the outlining does give it a cartoon look but the face is too good, too realistic. Beautiful illustration and sketch.

Thank you very much, actually mixing semi realism with outlining is mostly because I'm basing it a bit on the neo-traditional tattoo style, sometimes I just try to illustrate things that way with the vision that it can be tattooed at some point.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to read my post! Regards ☺️

You thought deep while making it. By saying a cartoon look I meant the animation touch but I see I have been mistaken. It totally goes with the neo-traditional tattoo style. I have just checked it out. Beautiful.
