Inktober is a drawing challenge that involves creating a drawing every day in October based on a series of words or phrases. It encourages people to draw and improve their drawing skills. It was created by Jake Parker and was originally a challenge where participants had to draw with ink and, obviously, using traditional methods, but over the years people have participated using a variety of materials, both traditional and digital. This year, I decided to complete the House of Wizard Inktober challenge, and I will be following each daily theme to the letter.

Inktober es un reto de dibujo, el cual consiste en hacer un dibujo cada día del mes de octubre, mediante una serie de palabras o frases. Incentivando a las personas a dibujar y mejorar en el dibujo. Fue creado por Jake Parker y originalmente es un reto en donde la persona tiene que dibujar con tinta y evidentemente en tradicional, pero a lo largo de los años las personas participan con diversos materiales, ya sea en tradicional o digital. Para este año, me propuse terminar el Inktober de House of Wizard y es el que estaré siendo al pie de la letra cada tema diario.

I started structuring the character step by step and without complications, so much so that I even forgot to take photos at the beginning when I was doing the first few minutes of the sketch. But hey, the truth is that I missed doing this kind of gloomy and dark work, because not many people know this, but I went through a really dark phase where I drew a lot of these kinds of pictures, and you know what? I love being back with this style.

Comencé estructurando el personaje paso a paso y sin complicaciones, tanto así que hasta se me olvido tomar fotos al principio de estar haciendo los primero minutos del boceto. Pero bueno, la verdad que extrañaba hacer este tipo de trabajos tan tétricos y oscuros, porque no muchos saben, pero yo tuve un etapa super oscura, en donde dibujaba mucho este tipo de dibujos y saben que? Me encanta estar de vuelta con este estilo.

After a while, I had the sketch ready to start painting, but first I cleaned it up a bit with a kneaded eraser to remove the excess graphite. I covered the edges of the sketchbook with adhesive paper, which allows me to paint without the paper bending too much, since the notebook I'm using for painting isn't very thick.

Después de un rato, tuve el boceto listo para comenzar a pintarlo, sin antes limpiarlo un poco con un borrador moldeable para así quitar el exceso de grafito. Rodeo los bordes del sketchbook con papel adhesivo, esto me permite pintar sin que si doble mucho el papel, ya que el cuaderno que estoy usando para pintar no tiene mucho gramaje.

I paint the whole drawing little by little, adding shadows, then the background, adding line art in certain areas, and that's how I build everything up. I didn't have to work that hard to get this drawing ready. The only thing I had to be patient about was waiting for the paint to dry. The rest was super easy and quick to do.

Voy pintando poco a poco todo el dibujo, haciendo las sombras, luego el fondo, agrego line art en ciertas zonas y así voy construyendo todo. No tuve que trabajar tanto para tener listo este dibujo, en lo único que tuve que ser paciente, fue en el hecho que tenia que esperar a que secara la pintura, del resto lo trabaje super fácil y rápido.
