Recreating Studio Ghibli scenes with watercolors 🎨💕 | 🐉 El Viaje de Chihiro 🐉

They proposed me a challenge, which consisted of recreating a scene from Studio Ghibli, we have to know that this is a company that produces Japanese animated films, where one of the things where they stand out in my opinion are those incredible sceneries that we can see in many of their films, such as beautiful landscapes, architectures and so on. So we had to choose a scene from any of her movies and do it with watercolors.

Me propusieron un reto, el cual consistía en recrear un escena de Studio Ghibli, tenemos que saber que esta es una compañía productora de películas animadas japonesas, donde una de las cosas en donde se destacan a mí parecer son esas increíbles escenografías que podemos llegar a ver en muchas de sus películas, como hermosos paisajes, arquitecturas y demás. Entonces debíamos escoger alguna escena de cualquiera de sus películas y hacerla con acuarelas.

I personally chose a scene from the movie Spirited Away, because that movie has always caught my attention, but I must also say that I have never seen any Studio Ghibli movie, I have to take the time to watch one, because the truth is that just by watching the images of them, they made me feel so at peace with all those scenarios that we get to see.

Yo en lo personal escogí una escena de la película Spirited Away o mejer conocida en español como El viaje de Chihiro, ya que siempre me ha llamado la atención esa película, pero también debo decir que yo nunca he visto alguna película de Studio Ghibli, tengo que tomarme el tiempo de verme alguna, porque la verdad es que con solo estar viendo las imágenes de las mismas, me hicieron sentir tan en paz con todos esos escenarios que llegamos a ver.

The truth is that I don't have much to talk about in the process, since I only had to choose the image, which I'll leave later so you can see a more detailed reference. Then I was doing the sketch quietly and then I added the color.

La verdad no tengo mucho que hablar en el proceso, ya que solo fue escoger la imagen, que se las dejaré mas adelante para que vean la referencia mas detallada. Luego estuve haciendo el boceto tranquilamente y luego pase a agregar el color.

I used watercolors to work on the whole drawing, since that is what the challenge consisted of, painting with watercolors only. I was guided by the reference to choose the colors of the color palette to recreate as much as I could of it in my drawing.

Use acuarelas para trabajar todo el dibujo, ya que es en lo que consistía el reto, pintar con acuarelas solamente. Me estuve guiando de la referencia para escoger los colores de la paleta de color y así recrear lo que más pude de la misma en mi dibujo.

Little by little I was working all the drawing with watercolors, getting to have the whole scene completed. The last thing I had to do was to work the line art in the whole piece and thus form what would become the whole composition, both in color and line art, as it is one of the characteristics of drawing style.

Poco a poco fui trabajando todo el dibujo con las acuarelas, llegando a tener toda la escena completada. Lo ultimo que tuve que hacer fue trabajar el line art en toda la pieza y así formar lo que vendría siendo toda la composición, tanto en color como en line art, ya que es una de las características de estilo de dibujo.

The truth is that you don't know how much I enjoyed doing this drawing, it's something totally different from what I would do, but from time to time it's not bad to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, we never know if we will end up liking what we have done, as was my case.

La verdad que no saben lo mucho que disfrute hacer este dibujo, es algo totalmente diferente a lo que haría, pero de vez en cuando no esta mal salir de tu zona de confort y probar cosas nuevas, nunca sabemos si eso que hayamos hecho al final nos termine gustando, como fue mi caso.
