This week I'm participating again in the @Splinterlands art contest and I must tell you that I'm super happy, since last week I got the fourth place, so this week I'm going for more. I chose the Wood Nymph card, since I thought the character was really cute and I said well, let's do it in my style and try to make it look good.

Esta semana participo nuevamente en el concurso de arte de @Splinterlands y debo decirles que me siento super contento, ya que la semana pasada quede en el cuarto lugar, así que esta semana voy por más. Escogí la carta de Wood Nymph, ya que se me hizo muy lindo el personaje y dije bueno, vamos a hacerla en mi estilo e intentar que me quede bien.

I started making the sketch taking as inspiration a photo I took of myself, remember that there is no better reference than yourself friends, so use photos of you when you can't find a good reference on the internet. It did take me a couple of hours to have the sketch well structured, since the perspective I used was a little different than the one I usually do, but the truth is that I got a very good sketch and line art, since I worked on it all at once when I had the initial sketch ready.

Comencé haciendo el boceto tomando como inspiración una foto que me tome a mi mismo, recuerden que no hay mejor referencia que uno mismo amigos, así que usen fotos de ustedes cuando no encuentre alguna referencia buena en internet. Si me tomó un par de horas tener bien estructurado todo el boceto, ya que la perspectiva que use era un poco diferente a la que usualmente hago, pero la verdad me quedo muy bien el boceto y line art, ya que lo trabaje de una vez cuando tuve el boceto inicial listo.

After I had done the sketch, I did the line art as above, using a nib brush that I love, although I want to try others. I started working on the color, using as a base color a green in a gray tone. The green of the skin in the original character was too saturated and it's not my style to use colors like that. That's why in the skin and in general, I used a less saturated color palette, tending to more grayish and darker tones.

Luego que había hecho el boceto, hice el line art como les dejo anteriormente, usando un pincel de plumilla que me encanta, aunque tengo ganas de probar otros mas. Comencé a trabajar el color, usando como color base un verde en un tono gris. El verde de la piel en el personaje original lo veía muy saturado y no es mi estilo usar colores así. Por eso es que en la piel y en general, use una paleta de color menos saturada, tirando a tonos mas grisáceos y oscuros.

The redness that we can see in the drawing, as well as the shadows work, I did it with watercolor brushes, that the truth is that every time I use them, I fall in love with them more and more. Besides these brushes make me remember 100% when I paint in traditional with watercolors, so I am fascinated with these brushes.

Las rojeces que podemos ver en el dibujo, al igual que el trabajo de sombras, lo hice con pinceles de acuarela, que la verdad cada que los uso, me enamoro más de ellos. Ademas estos pinceles me hacen recordar 100% cuando pinto en tradicional con acuarelas, entonces yo estoy, fascinado con estos pinceles.

I was adding certain details as the illustration progressed, adjusting the colors, removing things that I felt were too much, adding more shadows and lights. A very nice illustration and at the same time simple and straightforward, but it was really what I wanted to do in this drawing, but still, I enjoyed doing it so much.

Fui agregando ciertos detalles una vez iba avanzando toda la ilustración, ajustando los colores, quitando cosas que sentía que estaban demás, agregando más sombras y luces. Una ilustración muy linda y a su vez simple y sencilla, pero realmente era lo que quería hacer en este dibujo, pero que aun así, disfrute tanto hacerla.
