The growth and maturity Indicators of Plantains take about eight to ten months to mature. Normally, a farmer should be able to check his or her farm at regular intervals..

Looking through the plantation, I saw Signs of maturity to the fullness of the fingers of the plantain, a change in color from deep green to light green, and the drying of flower remnants at the tip.

So I am to harvest the Plantain using the simple harvesting techniques in which the use of a sharp machete or knife to cut the bunch from the plant is a necessity for the harvest with a ladder to mount on the banana tree.

Harvesting plantains involves timing, technique, and proper handling to ensure good quality and yield.

After I have determined that it is the right time to harvest. I look at the full-sized, firm fruits with a slight yellow tinge, which is right for harvest and consumption, and green and mature ones for cooking.
I noticed the edges of the plantains are rounded rather and the flower at the tip of the fruit is dry and already wants to fall off.

After Prepare for harvest mindset. I change my wear to be aware of the sap which can stain my clothes. Afterward, I climbed up the ladder and cut the plantain bunch by identifying the main plant stem holding the bunch. I supported the bunch with one hand and cut the main stalk about thirty centimeters, which is twelve inches above the bunch, to avoid damaging the fruit.
I allow the bunch to gently lower to the ground to prevent bruising, remove the bunch from the stalk, and once on the ground, I will cut the bunch from the stalk.

I handle it carefully to avoid bruising or breaking the plantains and remove the Plantain Sucker for regrowth. Then, after harvesting, I cut down the mother plant at the base. I leave one or two healthy suckers, which are young shoots, to continue growing for the next cycle.

I transport and Store the harvested bunches in padded baskets or crates to avoid damage. Store them in a cool, dry place for ripening or processing, and separate some for consumption.

All the pictures are mine.
