A Breastfeeding Mother's Uneven Breast?

Hello moms and dads of Hive! Did you know that the female breast are sisters not twins? That is to say that it is just natural for there to be slight and almost unnoticeable difference in sizes. Pretty noticeable in breastfeeding mothers though.

I'm not a Lactation expert but from what I have read as a lactating mother myself, what may be the reason for difference in size is the pattern of breastfeeding. If a breast feeding mother tend to feed her child on one side of her breast then the favored side will be bigger due to more milk production because the brain will send a signal for more milk to be made there.

Oxytocin is the hormone that make breast feeding possible. As our babies latch and squeeze the nipple, muscles of the breast carries message to the brain and oxytocin is produced which then goes straight to the breast gland for milk production.

Just like a well, the more the breast is worked the more milk it produces. Nature is wonderful like that!

Moms should try to ration the breast properly during breastfeeding to ensure that one is not more favored than the other.

The question now is will a breastfeeding mother's uneven breast go back to normal almost equal size after weaning?hanna-balan-_XdzYhDlK4Y-unsplash.jpgsource
