The battle I have for you today, for this week's Battle Mage Secrets challenge, was VERY CURIOUS, for a number of reasons.

But first, let's talk about this week's ruleset: Ferocity.

image.png

RULESET: Ferocity
Description: All units have the Fury ability.
Think carefully before including a unit with Taunt in your lineup as they will take double damage from units with Fury.

Ferocity is one of those silly rules where you just need to avoid using monsters with Taunt, and everything will be fine...

The Match

Here is where things get interesting. First, Ferocity was the only rule for this match, perfect for this week's challenge.

image.png

Second curiosity: I faced a great companion from @hive-br, @underlock, in this match. In fact, I've been trying to emulate his playing style, renting summoners and cheaper cards in general, even though underlock achieves better results in seasons, paying less and winning more than me.
Third curiosity: Both of us were running our bots, and we didn't even notice this unusual match happening!

The Teams

image.png

Not surprisingly, our bots chose Grandmaster Rathe as the summoner. A legendary summoner with Life 🌟 (my favorite element) and very efficient, providing resistance to magic attacks, giving Armor, requiring magic attacks to hit the Armor as well, and amplifying Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns. And we have good cards to play, specifically chosen for him.

image.png
My team consists of Lord Arianthus in the frontline, resisting magic attacks and reflecting them amplified, resisting melee attacks and countering with Thorns, and resisting ranged attacks. Prismatic Energy follows a similar approach, reflecting and amplifying magic and making the opponent miss many shots with its high speed - among other tricks that will come into play. Adelade Brightwing will repair the frontline shield, resurrect the first monster that dies, and participate in the battle from the sky, immune to negative effects. Djinn Renova - you beauty! - will increase everyone's life and heal the backline, dealing good amounts of magical

damage as well. A Cyclops to distribute some stuns and Spirit Miner to buff everyone's attack speed, increase the opponent's chances of missing with Blind, and provide a Dodge in the backline, further increasing the opponent's chances of missing shots.

image.png
Underlock's team is very similar, but instead of Cyclops and Spirit Miner, his bot chose Gargoya Devil and Air Elemental.

Activated Abilities

image.png

Looking at this, it seems like we have a clear advantage, with my monsters having higher speed than the opponents and also having a higher chance of hitting their targets.

Round 2

image.png

Here, it seems like we are slightly at a disadvantage, with my Prismatic Energy having 1 less health than Underlock's and his Lord Arianthus having 1 armor and 3 health, while mine starts the round with 4 health but without armor.

Round 3

image.png

When round 3 starts, both Lord Arianthus have been resurrected, Underlock's has been defeated for a second time, while mine still holds on. I am clearly in an advantageous position.

Round 4

image.png

At the beginning of round 4, the game seems more balanced, but my Prismatic Energy has more health than Underlock's.

Round 5

image.png

Round 5 starts with a 4x4 situation, and the composition differences will become more evident.

Round 6

image.png

It's a 3x3 battle, evenly matched. How will it end?

Round 7

image.png

3x2, and a poorly positioned Cyclops taking hits without reacting. It seems like it's over for me.

Round 8

image.png

And the match ends in round 8, with a comeback victory by Underlock's bot, which performed better than mine.

And this was another interesting defeat that I wanted to share with my friends in Battle Mage Secret. What did you think of this match? Have you experienced something similar? Do you enjoy mirror matches? (I love them; I find them the most fun.) Until next time, everyone!

image.png

RULESET: Ferocity
Description: All units have the Fury ability.
Think carefully before including a unit with Taunt in your lineup as they will take double damage from units with Fury.

a partida

Aqui a coisa começa a ficar curiosa.
