Getting to know the Prainha and Natural Pools of Barra da Lagoa - Brazil / Conociendo la Prainha y las Piscinas naturales de Barra da Lagoa - Brasil

This last month of February we were able to take the vacation we were longing for and just as we did in 2019 we were able to return to Brazil, more precisely to Florianopolis, Santa Catarina State.

Although we really wanted to return to that wonderful destination that we had visited six years ago, the economic situation of the country was not ideal, but this summer two events took place that helped us to fulfill this great dream.

On the one hand, the Argentine currency (the peso) appreciated in relation to the dollar while the Brazilian currency (the real) depreciated, which formed a perfect cocktail to go on vacation abroad.

The challenge was not easy since we had in front of us the challenge of driving no more and no less than 2500 kilometers to be able to enjoy this long awaited destination.

After almost three days of travel in which we stopped to rest, we finally arrived at our destination. At that point Ponta Das Canas, on the northern tip of the island of Florianopolis, was a reality.

Este último mes de febrero pudimos tomarnos las vacaciones que tanto estábamos ansiando y tal como lo hicimos en el año 2019 pudimos volver a vacacionar a Brasil, más precisamente a Florianópolis, Estado de Santa Catarina.

Si bien teníamos muchas ganas de volver a aquel destino tan maravilloso que habíamos visitado hacía seis años atrás, la situación económica del país no era la ideal, pero este verano se dieron dos acontecimientos que colaboraron para poder cumplir este gran sueño.

Por un lado la moneda Argentina (el peso) se apreció en su relación al dólar mientras que la moneda de Brasil (el real) se depreció lo cual formó un cóctel perfecto para salir a vacacionar al exterior.

El desafío no fue sencillo ya que teníamos frente a nosotros el reto de manejar nada más y nada menos que 2500 kilómetros para poder disfrutar de este destino tan ansiado..

Después de casi tres días de viaje en los que fuimos parando para descansar, por fin llegamos a nuestro destino. A esa altura Ponta Das Canas, en el extremo norte de la isla de Florianópolis, era una realidad.

In our previous trip to the neighboring country, I had left pending to know two well known sites in the Praia de Barra da Lagoa such as the Prainha and the Natural Pools.

Unlike the previous trip, this time we had sought more information about the sites I wanted to know and I did not want them to remain on my to-do list.

So one afternoon we decided to go to Barra da Lagoa beach to spend the day. It was a sunny and beautiful day and we were able to enjoy the sea. We not only bathed in the sea, we ate ice cream, drank a smoothie and played for a while.

After a couple of hours on the beach I decided to go out for a walk and see those sites so precious on that beach, so I took my cap, camera, cell phone and I plunged into the adventure.

To get to these sites you have to take some very nice trails, right from the beginning of the tour.

The trail begins by crossing the bridge that crosses the Barra da Lagoa channel that connects the sea with Lagoa da Conceição.

When you start crossing the bridge you can enjoy a very nice view of the channel that connects the lagoon with the sea as well as the buildings that are on the channel.

En nuestro viaje anterior al vecino país me había quedado pendiente de conocer dos sitios bastante conocidos en la Praia de Barra da Lagoa como lo son la Prainha y las Piscinas Naturales.

A diferencia del viaje anterior en esta oportunidad habíamos buscado mayor información sobre los sitios que deseaba conocer y no quería que quedarán en mi lista de pendientes.

Fue así como una tarde decidimos ir a la playa de Barra da Lagoa a pasar el día. Nos tocó un día de sol y muy lindo en el que pudimos disfrutar del mar. No solo nos bañamos en el mar, comimos helado, tomamos algún licuado y jugamos un buen rato.

Pasadas ya un par de horas en la playa decidí salir a dar un paseo y conocer aquellos sitios tan preciados en aquella playa, por lo que tomé la gorra, la cámara, el celular y me sumergí en la aventura.

Para llegar a estos sitios hay que hacer unos senderos muy bonitos, ya desde el comienzo del recorrido.

El camino comienza cruzando el puente que atraviesa el canal de Barra da Lagoa que conecta al mar con la Lagoa da Conceição.

Al comenzar a cruzar el puente se puede disfrutar de una vista muy linda del canal que conecta a la laguna con el mar como así también de las construcciones que están sobre el canal.

When descending the bridge the path begins by a kind of narrow corridor that in a first section has constructions and that as it is advanced the constructions are opening step to a more wild and jungle environment.

A few minutes after starting the wild sector on the left hand side we find the entrance to the Prainha. A beach that is enclosed between small cliffs and although it will have a maximum length of 300 meters is extremely beautiful and familiar. Its calm and crystalline waters make it ideal to spend a day with the family for those who have small children, although the only drawback is that because of its location is without direct sunlight around 17 hours in the month of February.

After spending a few minutes getting to know the site I decided to return to the trilha (that's how the trails are called in Brazil) to get to the natural pools, a site that looked very promising in the networks. The trilha is very beautiful in sections with lots of vegetation and high humidity. I tried to observe the site well and enjoy the walk, but to be honest there were too many people for my taste.

It's not about being antisocial, but when there are too many people with music on their smartphones and making too much noise, one tends to lose that connection in the environment and that makes me a little uncomfortable. On a couple of occasions I sat on logs waiting for the tourist contingents to pass by so I could enjoy the hike and connect with the environment.

Thank God these stops paid off and I was able to enjoy much of the hike in solitude, just as I had planned.

After an active walk of about 20 minutes I finally arrived at the natural pools of Barra da Lagoa. To be honest, although I thought the place was nice, I was not amazed. The environment is very nice because there is a large smooth rock that descends to the coast with lots of vegetation and lots of nature, but it is certainly not a place to go with children because the water is quite deep and that particular day the sea was a bit rough.

Al bajar el puente el sendero comienza por una especie de pasillo angosto que en un primer tramo tiene construcciones y que a medida que se va avanzando las construcciones van abriendo paso a un entorno más agreste y selvático.

A pocos de comenzado el sector agreste sobre la mano izquierda encontramos el ingreso a la Prainha. Una Playa que está encerrada entre pequeños acantilados y si bien tendrá una extensión máxima de 300 metros es sumamente linda y familiar. Sus aguas tranquilas y cristalinas hacen que sea ideal para pasar en día en familia para quienes tienen hijos pequeños, aunque el único inconveniente es que por su ubicación se queda sin sol directo sobre las 17 horas en el mes de febrero.

Después de pasar unos minutos conociendo el sitio decidí volver a la trilha (así se llaman a los senderos en Brasil) para llegar hasta las piscinas naturales, un sitio que en las redes se veía muy prometedor. La trilha es muy linda en tramos con muchísima vegetación y mucha humedad. Traté de observar bien el sitio y disfrutar de la caminata, pero para serles sinceros había demasiada gente para mi gusto.

No se trata de ser antisocial ni mucho menos, sino que cuanda hay demasiadas personas con música en sus smartphone y haciendo demasiado ruido, uno tiende a perder esa conexión en el entorno y eso a mi me incomoda un poco. En un par de ocasiones me senté en troncos a esperar que los contingentes de turistas pasaran para poder disfrutar de la caminata y poder conectar con el entorno.

Gracias a Dios estas detenciones dieron su resultado y pude disfrutar de gran parte del recorrido en soledad, tal como lo tenía planeado.

Después de una caminata activa de unos 20 minutos llegué por fin a las piscinas naturales de Barra da Lagoa. Para serles sincero si bien el lugar me pareció lindo, tampoco quedé maravillado. El entorno es muy lindo porque hay una gran roca lisa que desciende hacia la costa con muchísima vegetación y mucha naturaleza, pero sin dudas no es un sitio para ir con niños ya que el agua es bastante profunda y ese día en particular el mar estaba con algo de oleaje.

As I had gone alone and I was with my camera and cell phone I did not dare to take a bath for fear of being robbed, but on my next vacation I will take the opportunity to take a bath.

If I had to highlight what I liked most about this trilha, I would definitely say that it was being able to walk in a jungle environment and being able to meet some small monkeys that I could see very closely. The Prainha also seemed to me a place where it is worth going to spend the afternoon and enjoy such a beautiful landscape.

After enjoying almost 1:20 hours of walking I returned with my family to finish spending the afternoon with that beautiful feeling of having fulfilled the dream of making a very nice trilha.

I had to take a walk along the coast of the canal and maybe also take an excursion to visit Lagoa da Conceição. When you are in such beautiful beaches and the days are ready to enjoy them, you feel that you miss many places just to enjoy a swim in the sea.

Maybe at some point we should visit the island in low season to be able to walk around and see all those wonders that the “Ilha da Magia” has to offer.

Como había ido solo y estaba con mi cámara y el celular no me animé a bañarme por miedo a que me robaran, pero en próximas vacaciones aproveche para darme un baño.

Si tuviese que resaltar lo que más me gustó de esta trilha sin dudas les diría que fue poder caminar en un entorno selvático y poder encontrarme con unos monos pequeños que pude verlos muy de cerca. La Prainha también me pareció un sitio donde vale la pena ir a pasar la tarde y disfrutar de tan hermoso paisaje.

Después de disfrutar de casi 1:20 horas de caminata volví con mi familia a terminar de pasar la tarde con esa hermosa sensación de haber cumplido con el sueño de hacer una trilha muy linda.

Me quedó pendiente poder pasear por la costa del canal y quizá hacer también contratar alguna excursión para visitar la Lagoa da Conceição. Cuando uno está en playas tan hermosas y los días se aprestan para disfrutar de ellas, uno siente que se pierde de conocer muchos sitios por simplemente disfrutar de un baño en el mar.

Quizá en algún momento deberíamos visitar la isla en temporada baja para poder pasear y conocer todas esas maravillas que la "Ilha da Magia" tiene para ofrecer.
