El Chelsea llegó al Santiago Bernabéu con todas las ganas del Mundo de competir, pero sin saber cómo hacerlo, los Blues son la clara muestra de que de muy poco vale el comparar jugadores a granel -por mucha calidad que estos posean en los botines- si no se tiene un proyecto deportivo que respalde dichas adquisiciones y les brinde un sentido dentro del campo. El Real Madrid, por su parte, ha salido a dejar en claro que abril es su mes, a los Blancos les va la marcha y cuando la Champions va llegando a sus instancias finales en Chamartín se respira un aire distinto, el chip cambia, y los tambores de guerra suenan en el pecho de cada jugador Merengue.
El Real Madrid no perdona en Champions, y el Chelsea es un cúmulo de estrellas -algunas solo por el precio que Boehly ha desembolsado- que no encuentra el norte y seguramente tardará en poder hacerlo; el tiempo dirá si Lampard será el indicado para dicha encomienda o su segundo paso por el banquillo Blue será la reconfirmación de una triste realidad. Los Blancos desarrollaron un fútbol sumamente pragmático ante el cuadro londinense, los de Ancelotti jugaron más con la cabeza que con las altas pulsaciones porque la lectura del partido así se los demandó, aunque el 2-0 parece haber quedado corto para el desarrollo del encuentro.

El Real Madrid de instancias finales en Champions es similar a un monoplaza de Fórmula 1, mientras en la Liga o en la Copa del Rey puede ser alguna que otra vez un Seat Panda; eso se asume y se entiende, son reglas no escritas de la Casa Blanca. Lampard cambió la línea de 4 que empleó en su estreno para jugar con línea de 5 en defensa, con un convaleciente Thiago Silva cómo tercer central sacrificando a Kai Havertz para la noche del Bernabéu; con un 5-3-2 sin un punta nominal se hacía visible el respeto -por no llamarle miedo- que Lampard tenía al once de gala de Carlo Ancelotti que jugó con su 4-3-3 habitual con Valverde, Modric y Kroos en el centro del campo y Benzema en punta flanqueado por la ginga brasilera de Rodrygo y Vinicius.
El fútbol es cíclico, dicen algunos, y el Chelsea que ya había estado en el Bernabéu el 12 de abril de hace un año, ofreció una cara muy distinta y lejana de aquella que puso en vilo al Madridismo y que propició la enésima noche mágica del conjunto Blanco que, fiel a su ADN, tuvo que sufrir para clasificarse a la semifinal con la infaltable pizca de épica que viene bordada en su escudo. Casi 600 millones de Euros más tarde, habiendo quemado las naves de Tuchel y Potter y la carta de Saltor como interino para brindar a Lampard su segunda chance en el banquillo Blue, ha vuelto el Chelsea a la Castellana para hacer muy evidente su crisis existencial.
El plan de Lampard era aguantar y buscar las latigazos en el espacio largo, pareció funcionar en un largo envío de Kanté a Joao Félix, después, esa idea se volvió absolutamente predecible para Ancelotti que es un viejo lobo de mar y para su cuadro bajo que tiene demasiadas horas de vuelo como para caer burdamente en la misma trampa más de una vez. El Madrid, por su parte, era un equipo lleno de certezas, paciente, sabedor de que su momento llegaría y que serían capaces de aprovecharlo. El Madrid empezó a buscarle los resquicios a la visita con aplomo, paciencia y dedicación absoluta.

Los Blancos comenzaron a ejercer una presión alta que el Chelsea ya no sabía sortear y con ello, el primer tanto local tuvo su génesis. Camavinga desarmó al Chelsea muy cerca de su área, jugó con Carvajal y Dani levantó una pelota buscando la espalda de los defensores para encontrar a Vinicius, Kepa repelió el esfuerzo del brasileño pero Benzema estaba presto y dispuesto para empujar la ventaja local con tan solo 21 minutos de haberse suscitado el rodar de la pelota sobre el escenario del Teatro de la Castellana. Buscó reaccionar de inmediato el Chelsea pero Courtois, cuando no, sostuvo a los suyos para que continuasen con su labor de madurar una ventaja que les diera tranquilidad para afrontar el duelo de vuelta en Stamford Bridge.

El Madrid combinaba con un Vinicius que se convirtió en la pesadilla de Reece James y de todo aquel que osase frenar sus evites por izquierda, Rodrygo hacía lo propio con derecha, aunque con menos insistencia y todo parecía cuestión de tiempo para que los Blancos embocasen el segundo, pero el Chelsea fue resistiendo -casi sin saber cómo-, incluso unos minutos después de que Ben Chilwell se hiciera expulsar y dejase a los suyos con 10 elementos para afrontar la tormenta blanca. La mano de Ancelotti surtiría efecto -casi siempre lo hace- quitó a Rodrygo para dar minutos a Marco Asensio que encara menos que el brasileño y hace uso de sus recursos de artiellería casi sin reparo alguno; fue el balear quien soltó el misil que terminó por sacudir cualquier aspiración de Lampard de llevarse una desventaja mínima al juego de vuelta.
Ancelotti es una especie de Rey Midas del fútbol, ha conseguido su trigésimo quinta victoria en 47 partidos de UEFA Champions League que ha dirigido al Real Madrid y con ello, es ya el entrenador blanco con más victorias conquistadas en la máxima competición europea de clubes, superando las 34 de Vicente del Bosque en 60 partidos dirigidos. Benzema tiene especial predilección para castigar a los equipos de la Premier en Champions, ya son 20 goles del delantero francés ante rivales ingleses y con su tanto de hoy es -junto a Erling Haaland- el jugador de las 5 grandes ligas europeas que más goles ha embocado en lo que va de 2023 (18 tantos). El Real Madrid ya vela armas para el juego de vuelta en Stamford Bridge, la Casa Blanca quiere la decimoquinta.

Lampard, tiene mucha valentía, entrar en este Chelsea, teniendo al Madrid de rival, fuerte decisión. Realmente se quedó corto el resultado.
Reece James, hace unos meses atrás, cuando estaba lesionado, comento en Twitter que Vinicius era el jugador que más difícil ha sido defender. Hoy fue otra gran prueba que efectivamente no le sienta bien.

Lampard ha sido valiente y creo que aceptó el reto desde dos vértices, la primera su indiscutible amor por el Club, la segunda la espinita que llevaba clavada tras el abrupto final de su primera gestión al frente del banquillo Blue. El Real Madrid pudo haber hecho mucho más sangre de la que hizo en el juego de ayer, pero no anduvieron del todo finos en la toma de decisiones en la última zona.
Defender a Vinicius es sumamente complejo, para James o para quien me digas, el repertorio de regates y desbordes del brasileño hace complejo el frenarle; hasta ahora a quien mejor había visto defender a Vini ha sido Ronald Araujo y en el clásico de la semifinal de vuelta en Copa, el extremo madridista le dejó pagando varias veces.
