Bueno, habrá que matizar aquello de “no ser capaz de competir” que he empleado como coletilla del anterior párrafo, para ser justo con la versión de hoy del Chelsea en Stamford Bridge, los de Lampard -que ha cosechado su cuarta derrota en cuatro partidos dirigiendo al Chelsea en esta segunda etapa al frente del Club- han competido durante 58’ minutos de partido y han sabido incomodar al Real Madrid que se maneja mejor que nadie en escenarios complejos, los Merengues gozan de maestría y doctorado en el arte de sufrir estoicamente en los momentos complejos para matar los partidos cuando a ellos les venga en gana. Hoy el Madrid supo sostener la eliminatoria en calma gracias a Courtois y Militao con actuaciones determinantes en zona defensiva, a un Federico Valverde imperial en el centro del campo y a esa versión letal de Rodrygo en las noches de UEFA Champions League
En la noche que Benzema se convirtió en el jugador de campo con más partidos defendiendo los colores del Real Madrid (131) superando los 130 de Raúl Gónzalez Blanco, pero que no pudo hacerse presente en el marcador y agrandar su tremenda racha ante equipos ingleses, apareció Rodrygo para dar el golpe (más bien, el par de golpes) que tumbase la voluntad del Chelsea que por mucho que intentase no encontraba esa luz de esperanza a la que asirse en la eliminatoria. Dos goles de Rodrygo, que tiene una especie de idilio especial con las Copas -sobre todo con la Champions-, han servido al Madrid para, plantarse en la ya acostumbrada fase de semifinales y esperar a ver si su rival será nuevamente el City -que lleva mano en la eliminatoria- o el Bayern realiza una proeza fiel a su historia.

Today Madrid knew how to keep the tie calm thanks to Courtois and Militao with decisive performances in the defensive zone, to an imperial Federico Valverde in midfield and to that lethal version of Rodrygo on UEFA Champions League nights.
On a night when Benzema became Real Madrid's most-capped outfield player (131), surpassing Raúl Gónzalez Blanco's 130, but was unable to get on the scoreboard and extend his tremendous run against English teams, Rodrygo came on to strike the blow (or rather, the couple of blows) that would break Chelsea's will, and no matter how hard they tried they could not find that glimmer of hope to hold on to in the knockout stages. Two goals from Rodrygo, who has a special kind of idyll with the Cups - especially the Champions League - have helped Madrid to reach the now customary semi-final stage and wait to see whether their opponents will be City again - who are in the driving seat in the tie - or Bayern, who will perform a feat true to their history.
El Madrid sufrió durante 58’ largos minutos quizá un poco porque Lampard había avisado -y el que avisa no traiciona- que hizo un estudio profundo de los dos partidos ante el Madrid del año anterior y del juego de ida de la semana pasada; el análisis y el borbotón de cambios que presentó para el encuentro en Stamford Bridge parecían rendirle ciertos frutos, pero quizá fue todo un espejismo, quizá fue porque el Madrid así lo quiso un poco. No sabremos si el Chelsea gozó de tanta pelota y espacios durante tanto tiempo por mérito de un entrenador que de sus últimos 17 partidos dirigidos ganó uno, empató dos y perdió 14 o porque Carlo y sus secuaces tienen esta predilección de echar a andar como una maquinaria aplastante cuando las cosas se ponen feas.
Se criticó muchísimo el dibujo táctico que eligió Lampard para encarar el 2-0 en contra del juego de ida, pero la realidad es que sobre el tablero, ya en la práctica, la táctica parecía estar funcionando; sus piezas parecían tener total claridad posicional y funcional, apretaban bastante la salida de pelota del Madrid y le dificultaron la tarea; todo bien con el Chelsea en su patio, todo menos la definición. El Madrid aguantó la presión del Chelsea con los galones sus dos caudillos en la central y esa dosis de épica absoluta en las atajadas de Thibaut Courtois que sostienen al equipo cuando se necesita, pero en ese lapso de dominio Blue, los Blancos dieron aviso de su siempre clásica letalidad a la contra.

Estábamos ante una sensación latente de que un Chelsea que está más muerto que vivo pudiese revivir, una sensación que nos duró casi una hora hasta que Rodrygo lo dinamitó todo; el brasilero fue “Flash” por la banda derecha, buscó a Benzema sin poder encontrarlo, y la pelota llegó a Vinicius que hizo gala de esa sapiencia que el tiempo le ha dado para tomar mejores decisiones en zona caliente y sirvió a Rodrygo que recibió con la diestra y fusiló con la siniestra en un santiamén para derrumbar cualquier viso de esperanza Blue que se hubiese cocinado durante los primeros 58 minutos del rodar de la pelota en Londres.
Se derrumbó la esperanza Blue del mismo modo en que saltaron los planes de Lampard por los aires, era el 0-3 global una losa pesadísima que invitaba a la leyenda del Chelsea a presionar todos los botones de pánico, el emergente y malogrado entrenador de los Blues metió a talento del que había prescindido, Joao Félix, Mudryk y Sterling saltaron a la cancha de una tacada con la intención de sacudir el árbol, pero lo único que se sacudió fueron los cimientos de la institución que preside Todd Boehly cuando, al minuto 80 por cortesía de un pletórico Fede Valverde,Rodrygo firmó su doblete y asestaba un tremendo golpe final a una eliminatoria en que los Blancos navegaron con tranquilidad absoluta. El Real Madrid disputará las semifinales de la UEFA Champions League por decimosexta temporada, mínimamente cuatro más que cualquier otro equipo en la competición (FC Barcelona y Bayern Múnich han disputado 12 cada uno). El Rey de Europa lo ha vuelto hacer y no tiene miedo de aquel que le venga por delante.

El Madrid siendo el Madrid, no importa cuando se lea, mantuvo mente fría ante las arremetidas del Chelsea que a pesar de tener dominio no estuvo muy acertado incluso con la dirección al arco, por supuesto sin menos preciar la parada de Courtois al final de la primera etapa. Los merengues supieron mantenerse calmados quizás retrasando un poco las líneas pero no encerrándose en campo propio.
Me gusto mucho un Modric aportando en ofensiva pero no a tal grado de retroceder a Valverde que junto a los Brasileños pudieron hacer mucho daño a esa formación de los ingleses, al final esta se consolido mas y fue allí donde los merengues sacaron su mejor futbol. Deberán tener cuidado con un posible City en este tipo de situaciones en el partido del Chelsea, Halland parece no saciarse de goles y teniendo frente al Madrid puede animar aun mas esa vena goleadora.
Imposible pronosticar al Madrid, solo queda confiar en Ancelotti que tomara la mejor decisión en lo estratégico y que los jugadores claves llegaran a tono.
