Hay muchos libros que tienen la virtud de abrir los ojos y la conciencia de quien los lee. Son libros que tienen la mágica virtud de hacernos entender las cosas más complejas con las palabras más sencillas, como si nos detuviéramos al lado de un río a mirar el agua correr.
There are many books that have the virtue of opening the eyes and the conscience of those who read them. They are books that have the magical virtue of making us understand the most complex things with the simplest words, as if we stopped by the side of a river to watch the water flow.
"Ventanas" es un libro de esos que abren los ojos. Publicado por la Editorial "El Perro y la Rana", es una antología de algunos escritos del escritor uruguayo Eduardo Galeano, relatos recogidos de algunos de sus libros, con los cuales nos desnuda ante los ojos la profundidad de la vida de una manera verdaderamente irreverente, motivando así el acto de detenerse a reflexionar sobre cosas que sólo en apariencia resultan simples.
"Ventanas" is one of those eye-opening books. Published by Editorial "El Perro y la Rana", it is an anthology of some of the writings of the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano, stories collected from some of his books, with which he unveils before our eyes the depth of life in a truly irreverent way, thus motivating the act of stopping to reflect on things that only apparently are simple.
Eduardo Galeano es un rebelde de la palabra y cada uno de los relatos de "Ventanas" nos arroja a un lugar donde las palabras juegan sin miedos, con desenfado, como si no les importara el qué dirán. De esa manera, el escritor uruguayo agita las aguas calmas y obliga a ver en el fondo del pozo, más allá de lo aparente. Con "Ventanas", fácilmente podemos ir más allá de nuestros propios ojos.
Eduardo Galeano is a rebel of the word and each one of the stories in "Ventanas" takes us to a place where words play without fear, with abandon, as if they did not care about what people will say. In this way, the Uruguayan writer stirs up the calm waters and forces us to see into the bottom of the well, beyond the apparent. With "Ventanas", we can easily go beyond our own eyes.
"El hijo de Pilar y Daniel Weinberg fue bautizado en la costanera. En el bautismo le enseñaron lo sagrado. Recibió una caracola: - Para que aprendas a amar el agua. Abrieron la jaula de un pájaro preso: - Para que aprendas a amar el aire. Le dieron una flor de malvón: - Para que aprendas a amar la tierra. Y también le dieron una botellita cerrada: - No la abras nunca, nunca. Para que aprendas a amar el misterio."
