Special Lunch: Kimbap

Hi, dear bloggers and food lovers! Have a great weekend. Today I’m going to share a filling lunch recipe that’s perfect for lunch or as a bento box filling when you’re planning a weekend trip. Made with rice and nori, it’s a satisfying meal to take along on your journey. You can customize the kimbab fillings to your liking; this time, I used sausage, egg, fried chicken, cucumber, carrot, and onion as the fillings for my kimbab. Okay, let’s get started!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of nori
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/4 cucumber
  • 2 sausages
  • 1 egg
  • 1 piece of fried chicken (optional)
  • 2 scoops of rice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • cream cheese to taste
  • spicy mayo (optional)
  • sesame seeds

Instructions:

  • Cut the sausages, carrot, and cucumber lengthwise

  • Slice the onion

  • Crack the egg into a bowl

  • Add a pinch of salt and pepper

  • Beat the egg until well combined

  • Cook the omelet in a pan

  • Remove from heat and let cool

  • Once cool enough, cut the omelet lengthwise

  • Set aside

  • Sauté the carrots, sausage, and onion briefly

  • Remove from heat and set aside

  • Prepare warm white rice

  • Add salt and sugar to the rice

  • Drizzle sesame oil over the rice

  • Stir until well combined

  • Prepare the nori

  • Place the rice on top of the nori (with the rough side of the nori facing up)

  • Spread cream cheese on top

  • Add the toppings on top

  • Roll up the nori

  • Brush sesame oil on top of the kimbab

  • Cut the kimbab into pieces to your liking

  • Top the kimbab with spicy mayo (optional) then sprinkle black and white sesame seeds on top

  • The kimbab is ready to eat

I absolutely love sushi, but I’ve never actually tried it! I always watch people eating sushi on YouTube, and it makes me want to try it so badly. I don’t think it’s easily available in Pakistan, or maybe I just haven’t come across it yet. After seeing your recipe today, you’ve made it look so much easier for me. I’m definitely going to try making it myself! ❤️

You should give it a try, it’s really simple and easy. Who knows, maybe you’ll be interested in opening a restaurant that serves dishes like kimbap 😁 Happy trying 😉😍

What a great explanation—and it looks easy to make. I've never made sushi before because it seemed incredibly complicated, but maybe I'll give it a try with your recipe.
