5 years on Hive today!

Another milestone reached and happy that things are piling up.

Just another day by grace and come with us for a drive to buy the Sunday newspapers.

I joined hive on the 19th of June 2017 and as they say; The tortoise also got into the Ark.
In my days on hive, I have hardly missed a day of posting over the 5 years and for the newbies, Hodling (Holding) is what got me to this stage of the game. Yes, I call it a game as most everything in life is a game. You win some and you lose some. After a torrid time in two previous crypto sites I did not surrender and now in hive things seems to work for me. Albeit slowly I have surrounded myself with some of the many quality people on hive and we are grateful for each of them, as they are very special souls. As they say; A Luta Continua (The Fight Continues).

So let's go and buy the Sunday papers.

I don't like to do a big thing about any achievements in my life, simply because I don't like to blow my own bugle. That's also why I don't do posts about our charity work every day, unless it is something noteworthy.
Yes, we feed a very large number of children every day, but there are many others that are doing the same, so then why should I try to catch the limelight. We do what we do and that's it.

A good or a bad habit of mine is to get the papers and then to sit at an outside coffee shop to read how the world is destroying itself. Murder and mayhem take the headlines, but at times there are some interesting articles in the papers. Such as archeologists discovering an ancient ship on land that was once covered by the ocean. I like to read as many words as I can every day and here on hive there are also some prolific writers that I read from start to finish.
Just my way of life.

Have not bought a newspaper in over twenty years, bad news arrives fast enough!

Congratulations on the 5 years, yes Hive has settled into a place that is newsworthy one can read almost anything happening on the ground around the world as well.

Cape looks bright and beautiful under sunny winter sky, sunshine makes one feel reassured of better tomorrows, let us hope they arrive.

Like I said Lady Joan, an old habit that I hang on to.

Thank you my friend and I will simply carry on.
Hive is indeed filled with newsworthy items and one day I will have enough data to read most of it.
We always have to watch the data, as we carefully work it out to a set amount every day, in order for it to last us for a full month. Marian used the lion's share as she has to lecture online and we scrape through every month.

Lovely crisp and beautiful days in the interim before the real storms arrive.

Cost of living is going up every time you look.

Waste of time and fuel on our freeways down here, horrendous in fact, road repairs not being attended to since the floods. No matter which road you take, add an hour to journey when you driving....

Oh our local council had repairs started with private contractors, then SARAL stepped in so say "proper" procedures not followed.... wonder who is getting cash back deal?

Overnight rain, cool overcast lovely weather for the next couple of days on weather reports.

It has indeed been a wonderful journey and so many people post true quality stuff such as yours for example.
Yes many of my friends migrated to Hive, but sadly some good ones also disappeared onto other sites that I have not joined.

A blessing indeed and just a pity that so many fear it as they don't understand what the blockchain offers.
So in fear they continue to spread FUD and the settled money reapers also don't like the threat of the blockchain to their established financial harvesting systems. I said all along that we will face many fights from all quarters.
One can only wonder where all of the content creators are now.
Only grace will determine my time my friend.

Haha, I probably would have recovered by now, but I have had a nightshift and today I am even more tired 😁 so I will go to bed very early, but get up very early also. I think there's some alpenglow waiting for me on a mountain pass, or a waterfall, or a little butterfly on a flower ... I don't have any idea what I'm going to do tomorrow 😂

At last we all seem to be approaching the 5 year milestone and I am happy for you Lady Fiona.
Yes, before Steempit I was involved in another site that was great fun. But it closed down overnight with no warning and left many destroyed souls behind. Really a sad occurrence.

Congrats and now on wards and upward to achieve 10. You were 9 months ahead of me so you were really early getting into this stuff. I haven't read a newspaper since 2015 as they were the free ones on the plane and must be over 18 years since I purchased one lol.

I wouldn't say that as we were both smart enough to end up on here. I used to read the paper daily and even had 2 subscriptions in the UK but just can't waste the money anymore. teletext was the next habit that replaced newspapers and now the internet so it is still similar.

After my first bad experience with the crypto site shutting down overnight, I swore never to touch crypto again. This was 3 years before steempit. But a good friend in Miami kept on hounding me to join him in steempit and eventually I relented. The rest is history.
I have read hundreds of books during my youth and even in adulthood and now all that I have to read now is local papers. A habit that doesn't worry me as I don't have the time to read books anymore.
A first happened here tonight, as the country has loadshedding from 5pm until 10 pm. Our schedule started at 6pm and ended at 7pm. Only 1 hour of loadshedding. A new record methinks!

Like I said Lady Denise, we run hand in hand and you and I are only trying to do our best in all that we do. If it takes a lot of work, then so be it as nether of us are scared of work. Time is the main controlling factor and we have just now emerged from another power cut today. So it doesn't make things easier and you also have many obstacles to contend with.
Age doesn't matter in this young lady, as we do everything with our hearts and they are forever young ❤️

Every Sunday I take a different route for two reasons. If one takes the same route every Sunday, the criminals will see it and set one up for a robbery at one of the traffic lights.
The second reason is that I can get nice photos on the different routes.

Yes, this suburb on the rural edge of the Cape Town city is developing so fast, that it will soon be become a city on it's own. Luckily by that time I plan to be out of here.

Strange as a lady told me tonight during load shedding that they bought a piece of land in a new rural development and they will build their house there. So maybe the Lord is guiding us to consider doing the same in time. We don't have the money yet, but the time will come.

Over 40 years ago, when my husband and I were dating, we used to drive 20 miles to a particular restaurant where we could share a huge cinnamon roll while reading the Sunday comics. It was a fun tradition.
