A collection of some beauties.

I think even the birds are confused by the strange weather patterns.
104 (2).jpg

The weather in one day can change instantly here, and in the period that the sun shines, the birds come out to play.

It is supposed to be Spring, with nice fresh scents in the air and lovely full days of sunshine, but the Winter is very reluctant to pack up and go.
So we get continual switches between sun, cloud, cold winds, and rain. Now add to this the level 5 powercut warning issued this morning, and things do not look too bright for the future. We have already had 3 powercuts per day this week, and now it seems that things are going to get worse.
Thankfully, they can't switch the sun off.

This little guy with the long tail is a Pin-tailed Whydah (Vidua regia)

This one that just landed is an African Darter (Anhinga rufa)

One of my favorites below is the Malachite Sunbird (Nectarinia famosa)

Here we have a Southern Fiscal Shrike (Lanius collaris)

And finally to show you how the sun colors the Malachite Sunbird.
149.JPG

Like I said above, a collection of birds now to show the beauty all around here. Very cloudy this morning and they say that there might be some rain. But maybe later afternoon, it will clear up and the sun will shine again.
Very special little birds in here, and just to think that each one forms a function in the eco-system. Seed eaters, like the Fiscal, plant trees and flowers with their excrement. Then we have the insect eaters, that control the mosquito populations and we have the fish eating birds, to control the fish populations in the dams.
So whenever we regard anything in nature, we must know that it performs a function in the eco-system.
Supreme wisdom displayed every day by the Supreme Creator.

And That's All Friends.

Cheeky is far ahead in developing his tail feather compared to my local Pin-tailed Whydah, Malachite Sunbird always dazzling to witness, your flower with the taste of nectar they love.

Maybe yours is a younger model methinks.
We bought a pincushion bush (small) for our new garden in the hope that I can attract a Malachite here at home. I know that the double-collar sunbirds also like the pincushion flowers, so let's see what the future will bring to my study window.

Thank you so much for the tipu.

Definitely a young model I have been watching change when he visits. Pincushion flowers grow inland I have never seen any here along the coastline, so enjoy once the birds arrive giving you prime views.

Have a great Sunday with !LUV to Marian and Troy

Well I am sure that he will look like our one when he is fully developed.
Maybe the soil is different, as they are very fussy plants.

Thank you and I hope that your week started well.

Ah, we are returning to Roman times. The batteries of our signal towers continue to flake due the power cut interference of their charging times. Then our gate motor was repaired today and we await a stiff invoice.
On a sidenote, I lost one of my camera's batteries yesterday and they are out of stock in the shops. Can you believe that they are charging ZAR1000 for a battery now?

!LUV

Shame yes, many empty shops over here attests to the slaughter of small businesses. Never a good thing.

Nothing is working in KZN, power outages now strong possibility of nothing returning happened twice now where we sit with no power all day, no signal as the tower batteries are kaput!

Battery for camera is about right they were R700 two years ago and I held back from buying a backup.

Small businesses are fast becoming obsolete with this government in power, well they want to control everything let us see what 2024 brings, hopefully complete change.

So sad to hear and one can only raise the eyes to heaven. Your struggles are so much worse than ours.
The good news here is that they drop the higher levels by two levels. So if it is level 5, then here it is level 3. Soon according to the talk, the Western Cape will be separated completely from the Eskom supply.

So the price was raised every year since. Mind you everything have price increases every year. And one wouldn't mind if the increases were only 10%, but those days are gone.

Don't get your hopes up too soon for 2024, as we might get into deeper trouble. I only hope that the crypto prices will recover.

Municipality begged them not to switch off, they insisted Stage 4 and above.... now the people suffer the consequences. Still paying higher rates and taxes, higher electricity and water bills not being supplied anything in return but a load of shit! Yup shit still in all the rivers and sea with ecoli, beaches closed.

ANC are a war faction not political leaders, illiterate people running KwaZulu-Natal in the meantime many university degree youth sit without employment.... Cadres, Comrades and all these terms used are employed, yet people with skills and development sit on the sidelines.

Time for change, failing which we are already another lost cause!

So what are you guys going to do in the December holidays with the closed beaches?
Surely the visitor counts will drop dramatically and that will mean great financial losses for the city and it's people? I just hope that they do a rush job to stabilize the water with tons of chemicals.

Doesn't look like things will change as the KZN lot has a view that they are the rightful leaders of the country. KZN has the highest number of seats, but the other provinces combined have almost double the KZN count. So interesting times ahead.

We seldom go on the beaches when visitors arrive, normally remote area close to home for the dogs, with ecoli we have not been down since the floods.

Fixing anything of late is a nightmare, everyone is more important than the next then you have to wait on tender systems.....

Cannot control a fart in a paper bag, rather not talk politics nor religion, keep opinions to oneself.

Will be a catastrophe when the visitors arrive methinks.

I just hope that the tenders will be done above board.

Best way to go.

Is a catastrophe without the visitors already, who knows how the chess board with tenders is played out, friends of friends is all I can say!

Thankfully, they can't switch the sun off.

You seem really upset about what happened there. I'm sorry for that. However, you seem to enjoy the whole situation and you are very good at controlling your emotions.
Are you out on this walk to enjoy nature's warmth and an outlet for power outages, Sir?

So whenever we regard anything in nature, we must know that it performs a function in the eco-system. Supreme wisdom displayed every day by the Supreme Creator.

All creatures have their respective roles and functions, sometimes it is humans who do not want to maintain their roles and functions to protect nature.
You seem to be an obedient person and you understand a lot of things.
Are you a teacher?

Nope, I have stopped being upset when it started years ago. Now only disgusted that they can't get things right at last. Nature is a perfect healer for one's mind and it certainly relieves all of one's stresses.

Humans are saddled with the curse of greed and what they call progress when they destroy forests to build houses, is in fact a hunting for profits. Of course nature will continue to suffer destruction until it's too late and then we will all be done for.
No, I am not a teacher.
