A dancing Praying Mantis.

We named him Manny Travolta and after the dance I gave him a new home.
020.JPG

A few of you will remember John Travolta in his dancing movie and little Manny had the same steps :)

We stopped at a shop and on the way back home this guy walked across our car's windscreen. I couldn't stop due to the traffic, so I slowed down to allow him to fly off the car. When we got home and I got out of the car, he was still on the roof.
So come and be entertained by Manny the Mantid.

First above a step to the left and then below a step to the right.
019.jpg

This was when I saw him on the roof when I got out of the car.
004.JPG

Then he walked over to the dancing spot, as he was trying to get onto the rib on the car's roof.
017.JPG

Here he got on the side of the car.
027.JPG

Oh yes, he was watching me every step of the way as he came along on a slow walk.
040.JPG

Check out his lovely shadow here below.
050.JPG

Thank you mate, he said, I hope that you have enjoyed my dancing show.
052.JPG

Wait, he said, let me come closer.
054.JPG

I need a toilet and something to eat after that harrowing drive on the car's roof.
057.JPG

So I put Manny into a big bush in our front garden to do his business.
067.JPG

Look how thankfully he looked at me as I was leaving.
061.JPG

The end of the story and I am sure that Manny will take care of all of the mosquitos that sit on his new home. I am not going to ask you to look for him, as only I know where he was and it is our secret. Else you will tell the bugs and they will stay away from the bush.
002.JPG

So there you have it and what a nice experience it was to help the little guy. He must have been one of those stunt riders in Mantid land.
Just another simple experience in my life to test my love and care, as I will do this for any insect, bird, animal or human.
We have the power to kill, but we also have the power to live and to let live. The choice is ours and if we partake of the latter, then we are making this world a better place.

I hope that you have enjoyed the picture story and may it be well with all of you.

And That's All Friends.

Well it's great that at least you know about the Mantid.
There are many that have never seen one.

Manny is awesome, and got the home he deserves ♥️ I won't tell the bugs that the garden has a new resident!

Yay! At least you can keep a secret and I will tell Manny that you won't split on him.
I don't think that the bugs will be very happy with you when the truth leaks out that you didn't tell them :)
But I can always send you some of Manny's children to take care of the bugs 😁

Hello @papilloncharity. I love mantises, they seem very intelligent. When I was little and Dad found one of hers, he called her "the table" and she seemed to extend her front legs, like a table. Then he called her "the chair", and she folded them into the shape of a chair. XD

Wow! That sounds like your dad was an insect trainer and it must have been fabulous to see the mantid doing the table and the chair act.
A very nice story.

LOL. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but Dad used to do that ritual with the taritas, which is what we call them here. I really believed that they obeyed him.

!LOLZ I think that your Dad had a way of conning you and you must have been mighty impressed. Tarita is a nice name for them.

It's always a pleasure to read nice stories and to see lovely photos after a hard day at work, and I have enjoyed your post as always, my friend, Manny is a lovely little guy 😊

It would have been so easy to just squash him, but you would never do such and prefer to save the life of an insect. Our world would be a lot better if more people would think only a little bit like you do 😀

Thank you for the kind comment Hannes and Manny is indeed a real show boat 😄

People are all different my friend and ignorance drive a lot of killings, just as fear of injury is also a motivating force. Many harmless insects and snakes are killed, as there is no understanding that they all form a part of the eco-system.
Such is life.

Cheers and thanks.

The pleasure is all mine, my friend 😊

My wife hates spiders and before my son got Lukas, she said she don't want to have it and will kill the spider. Now she loves to watch and feed the little guy. Everything can be learned if you only want it, I believe, and being good must even be easier to learn 😁

Hahaha, Marian was the same as she was seriously scared of Staffordshire Terrier dogs.
My daughter had one and later on Marian and the dog became friends. Now she no longer fears them.

Great that your wife likes Lukas now and you are right that the want should exist if one wants to learn. At times the want is not there, but the learning unexpectedly appears 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, sometimes we learn something "accidently" but especially regards animals and insects like spiders there's more ignorance than acceptance.

New surprises every day my friend, I saw a picture today of a snake catcher that caught the biggest Puffadder snake ever. Now puffadders are thin snakes that mostly only reaches 1 meter.
This one was almost 2 meters long and fat.
The first instinct created by ignorance is to kill spiders, but many people don't know the value of keeping a harmless spider in the home, as they eat all of the pests.

Cheers and thanks.

Wow, what a size - it's like people growing as tall as 3 or even 4 meters 😮

That's true - leave a spider in the house and there will be nomore flies.

Oh yes, my half brothers are over 2 meters but even they don't come close to this snake size. I read once about an Anaconda snake that they found in the Amazon and the snake was 25 meters long 😮

Yep and just a pity that some spiders also eat pets 😉

Cheers and thanks.

A 25 meter snake sounds like a real monster snake that could kill an elephant.

Luckily our spiders here are a little smaller than yours down there 😁 !LOLZ

Oh yeah, I am not sure if it was an Anaconda, or a Python. They curl around their prey and squeeze it to death before they swallow it. I cannot think that a snake can swallow an elephant.

A little bit smaller is an understatement my friend, we have some large ants that are bigger than your spiders 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Well, I also think an elephant might be a little bit too big for any snake.

Oh yes, I believe this too - our biggest insects are only baby insects in your eyes 😁 !LOLZ

Once that elephant puts his 3 ton foot on a snake, the snake will be no more my friend 😉

Hahaha, your insects are our small flies size and it his to be the cold that is shrinking them 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.
