A mother and child reunion.

Here we have the mom in a bottle brush tree.

First I will show the mom and then her son.

They are sunbirds of the Southern Double-collared species. (Cynnyris chalybeus)
I was outside in my car waiting for the wife when I saw the bird landing on the bottle brush flower and it was fairly easy just to click away with my camera inside the car.

And here below is her son, still very young, but he will soon turn into his lovely adult colors and his song will delight us again.
He popped into a tree in our garden at the front of the house, so I could also get him from the car.

Yes, it's hot here and eating in the heat can get to be thirsty work and so he popped down to have a drink from our water bottle.

Luckily the sunbirds do not have to worry about falcons flying overhead, as they are too small for the falcons to eat.

I also saw two Paradise flycatchers flitting through our trees, but the photos came out very blurred. I will get them the next time that they appear here.
In any case then my wife arrived and we were on our way to meet with a guy that restores old cars at his home.

We are back now and I will show you some lovely old cars that the guy is working on in a workshop at his place.
But that is for tomorrow and I hope that you enjoyed this post.

And That's All Friends.

Bottle brush bush in a garden is such a draw card for these little sunbirds, although you have the slightly larger variety visiting there!

Always be prepared to click when waiting anywhere, birds move constantly making them so interesting to watch.

Yep, I love that bottles brush and they are very small Lady Joan. It is my zoom that makes them to look big.
Exactly and the camera always ready.

Bottle brush I have is tallish and thin between Jasmin, not many flowers this year, biggest I have ever seen was in the Drakensberg with every bird in mountains visiting to enjoy sweet nectar.

Our bottle brush is a big isolated tree about 5 meters high and there is most always some form of life in it.
The birds love its nectar and yes the Drak also has lovely flowers.

We had stunning trees in neighbourhood, as new arrive they tend to cut everything down.... scared of snakes?

Now taken about five years to allow my own garden to wild a bit to attract more in. Lucky we stopped church from allowing mast onto their property across the road, their gardens are another wonderful green space.

I hate it when they butcher the trees like that.

Yes I remember your mast issue and it is always a good thing to wild one's garden. Ours look like the surrounding nature and some of the residents here in the complex don't like it. They like sterile paved gardens with rose bushes. Oh, they also don't like our animals.
So we are not well liked here, but who cares?

Given up on giving up, live and let live I say more animals venture into my garden the happier I am, look at how Woody adopted me three years ago! 😂now snubs original family too...

Mall and paving everywhere no wonder flash floods, no open land left to quench the thirst.

Woody is a wise fella to adopt a mom like you and who needs family when you are around 😊

Despicable stuff and all just for profit.

Good fences make good neighbours of late, Woody found an exit, now I could tell horror stories but zip up to hold the peace!

Totally agreed with you, and that is why I work on our fences everyday. Not everyday, mind you, with this heat around it is impossible to get around.
Best always to hold the peace.

Children grow up so fast. The little guy looks almost like an adult to me - lovely 😃
I like the water bottle, Zac, great idea 👍

Oh yes, warnings are out for drivers all over the news Hannes.
This year the plague is very bad, as there are even locusts coming in from Namibia.

Cheers and thanks.

Too cold over there for the locusts Hannes and you are lucky.

As you like waterfalls I thought that I would show you this.
