A mother and child reunion.

As usual they always chase each other around, but not this morning.
011.jpg

A real moving picture of a mother and child in our front garden.

The first two pictures are to show you that after the mother force trained them to learn how to eat, now that they know how, there is no more need for force, and only love on the day. There were 3 of them, but the light wasn't very good, so I chose to share only these 2 pictures.
Little did we know what awaited us later in the day, when we stopped to have some bean plunger coffee at one of our favorite spots.

012.JPG

And this below was later in the day at a coffee house.

Our table was below this tree and look what appeared.
029.JPG

The youth are very inquisitive nowadays and the two had a look at us at the table where we sat with our coffee.
063.JPG

So, the shy one at the right popped back up into the tree.
067.JPG

Found a hidden fruit and had lunch upside down.
085.JPG

The other one was more adventurous, and it decided to come down to investigate us. You can see the corner of our table at the left.
109.JPG

I think that it is a Myrtle tree and some of its fruits dropped down, so this little guy found one.
111.JPG

Unperturbed at our presence, he sat quite close to us below the tree to enjoy his bite to eat.
042.JPG

I love to see the tails of the young squirrels, as they are very colorful, especially in the afternoon sunlight. I mean, just have a look at this young one below, when we arrived back home. Full of color eating a sunbaked granadilla.
042.JPG

We wish you all to have a good Friday and a great weekend. The western Cape province is known for the abundance of squirrels, in the forests, towns, and cities. Where you find a nut or acorn tree, you will find squirrels, sadly, they have to change their diets as a destructive beetle arrived on our shores and many of the Oak trees are being cut down. Be that as it may, I think the squirrels will survive as they are very inventive, and I am sure that they will change their diets. They are probably already changing their diets, as we see many of them lately eating the fruits of trees, and that is a good thing because they don't bury the fruits and all of the seeds in their poop will result in many new fruit trees. The little critters like to have fun and we like to watch their antics.

I hope you have enjoyed the picture story.

Squirrels are always entertaining to watch, exceptionally good at finding food source for themselves.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Agreed, and we have much fun with them. If they are not eating, then they are up to something, and one has to keep an eye on them.

Have a fabulous weekend!

You have squirrels we have moles, wish I could see what they are up to beneath the ground.

Greetings from cool wet Durban to Marian and yourself.

You will be surprised to see the castles of tunnels that the moles dig under the ground. I have caught a few in my time and they eat the bugs on the roots of plants. They hunt insects, invertebrates, earth worms and a range of other pests.

Bad weather coming your way, as we have up to 80kmh wind gusts here the whole day. We can even hear the howls of the wind outside right now.

Greetings also to you and yours.

Exceptionally windy Friday, yesterday and today rain, gentle which is pleasant soaking the ground through. Moles have been busy of late around the garden keeping the soil neat and tidy beneath in their underground highways.

One cannot believe what is happening here. Extremely strong wind gusts ripped a part of the roof of our main shopping mall off, and the streets all over are sown with broken trees. The oldest wine estate Blaauwklippen was destroyed by a fire and a warning is out that things will just continue until late Monday. All the schools are closed on Monday and motorists are advised to avoid excessive travel.
It sounds like a war here with the screaming high speed gusts of wind.

Just saw the state of the Western Cape, shocked at damages from fires again, many roads now closed due to gusting winds, fires along Simons Town/Fish Hoek, Stellenbosch so many houses gone again. Stay safe as best you are able, Cape Doctor in town again and it really does not look good.

Cape Doctor with a vengeance this time Lady Joan, as we have not had it so bad before. The poor firefighters stand no chance against 85kph gusts of wind that flips fire sparks miles ahead within seconds. The good thing is that they are very experienced, and they know how to handle the run-away fires. Schools are closed on Monday and the big mall is also closed as some roof sheets were taken off by the winds.

Absolute devastation at a time few can afford, so many homes up in smoke or flattened by trees now the rain arrives with cold, how people suffer! Solutions urgently needed in this country, blame game has to end.

Worse to come, as what the wind left off, the floods will finish. People are really suffering.
First thing to do, would be to move people to higher accommodation, with decent houses instead of shacks.

Conditions these people live in shatters me, we never had such high levels of poverty currently being witnessed.

Oh yes, we have never seen this before, and no human beings deserve to live in such haggard conditions.
The divide between the haves and the have nots is the worst in the world. Things cannot continue like this.

Open again today with the damaged section cordoned off. Glad to see and that's about all that one can do in these circumstances.

Horrific weather, little anyone can do about it. We had heavy rain yesterday with lightning, some places hail along the coast which is unusual. Today wind but sunshine with clear blue sky, it feels like Summer is behind us at last!

Not very nice to feel so helpless. It all starts from here, and then it travels down the garden route to leave at the KZN north coast. They call it a "cutoff-low", and it is responsible for all of the freaks that we get, like your hail. Today was a lot better, although still cold, but it will gradually start to warm up. Weatherman reckons next 2 weeks will be nice weather.

Temperature dropping down has helped remove the excess heat on this side, much more comfortable.

We cannot control weather, only fools think they are able to change her moods.

And isn't that cooler just fine, like you said, so much more comfortable.

So true as the wind has a mind of its own. It befuddles the weather forecasters time and again !

Argus cycle on the weekend, cleaning operations must be top priority for big event after everything that has transpired.

Love that nature is so unpredictable, it blows through reminding humans just how insignificant we are.

Oh yeah, Argus is huge success and may international cyclists will also compete, so things have to be spic and span.

Frail Lady Joan, we are very frail as human beings, and such a pity that so many don't realize it.
